My page is still under construction. Much more information will be added by the end of the week thank you. I did have a question though, how can i put a bulleted list into my article?
A tag has been placed on U Card requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Request reason:
The U Card Office at the University of MInnesota is not a group and is not trying to promote anything. The staff at the U Card Office is concerned with making sure that students, staff, and faculty at the University of Minnesota and (especially) perspective students to the University of Minnesota, from all backgrounds have multiple ways of finding helpful information about the U Card (the official University of MN ID) and the U Card Office. Obtaining a U Card doesn't cost anything nor does signing up for the services associated with the U Card. The U Card Office is a service provider to the University of Minnesota community, very similar to the Coffman Memorial Union Wikipedia page. Is there a better way for our office to include this information associated with the University of Minnesota on the Wikipedia site? If so, please provide that info.

The U Card office is an organization, that is a group of people, and the U Card is a thing it produces. Under Wikipedia policies, usernames can not substantially match that of a real organization. I believe the basis of your argument to be flawed. You suggest that based on your policy of a username not substantially matching that of a real organization, the University of Minnesota should not appear on this site as it is a "real" organization, nor should the Democratic Farmer Labor Party, as it too is a "real" organization. I respect that WP does not simply publish information because it exists. However, literally thousands of people could really benefit from finding our information at WP. If we are unable to create our own page, how can we include our information at WP as the Official University of Minnesota ID card? As our office is part of the University of Minnesota, should I just edit there?

- Reply, letting another admin respond to the unblock request above. There is a difference between an article and a username. The University of Minnesota has an article because it meets our policies in that people who are not part of the University of Minnesota have written about the University of Minnesota, and we can cite what they have written to show that. Howver, there is no user account named [[User:University of Minnesota]] because such a user account is against out policies. The logic is perfectly consistent, what is flawed is your misunderstanding of the difference between a Wikipedia article, and a Wikipedia user account. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 21:01, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- The account is blocked because no organization or group can have a user account in Wikipedia. Individual human beings and only individual human beings can have user accounts and edit articles here. As Jayron says in the note just above this one, there is all the difference in the world between subject matter, such as the U of M, and users such as myself (an employee-in-law of another university's Parking and Transit Department, BTW). Individual employees of the U of M can and do have user accounts in Wikipedia, and edit it; but they do so as individual human beings, not as the U of M (and of course, they must observe our regulations on conflict of interest, etc.) — Orange Mike | Talk 21:08, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
unblock | Got it now. Thanks. I didn't understand the original explanation. Now I get it. Because U Card and U Card Office are not individuals, they cannot be "users." I respectfully retract my request to unblock.
