Looks like there are some accounts and pages connected. Creator uploaded four images to Wikimedia Commons with at least two of the pages they are connected to now up for deletion. Plenty of IP editing and at least one other account that looks like MEAT. I am compiling the information for SPI now. Just wanted to give you a heads up. @CNMall41 Okay, acknowledged. Thank you I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 22:49, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Another goddam rabbit hole. Will take hours and I don't have the time today so filed what I have but should be self-explanatory if you look at the edit histories. --CNMall41 (talk) 23:14, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

toxic leadership

[edit]

The toxic leadership article that you have just reject it is a scientific article, part of academic research., I is build on a valuable academic research, and add to it's conclusion .... i.e. it is not just talk or self story ....your review really choking me 2A02:9B0:4001:A57F:4C23:FD42:3A06:C6F1 (talk) 19:36, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is a tertiary source, and not a webhost for academic research. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:12, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Welcome

[edit]

Hi, I dream of horses! Thanks for the welcome on my (current) IP User page, but I've been editing here for over 20 years, and deliberately choose not to have a User account. Moreover, though once static, my IP is now dynamic (changed years ago by my ISP, not by my choice), which is why to avoid confusion in ongoing conversations, I pseudo-sign myself as {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 94.6.86.81 (talk) 19:46, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're a rare and confusing breed, poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:14, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I dream of horses -- I've declined this one; I don't think it's wrong, per se, and I don't think this is ever going to make it to mainspace for notability reasons, but perhaps we just all have to dial down the deletionist tendencies a bit, especially in draftspace, where no obvious benefit accrues to subject. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 06:42, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Espresso Addict I suspect people are going to be a little more inclusionist for a moment; I'll have to adjust.
It was more G11'able when I nomm'd it; if the article improves after I nominate it, I'm never upset by that result. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 06:45, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I noticed that. I still think it would reasonably fall under G11, but it's not really doing much harm where it is waiting for G13 to remove it quietly. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 06:47, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Espresso Addict I suppose that as long as it's not being resubmitted-declined-resubmitted-again enough, it's not doing any harm and will be G13'd eventually. Even in the case of someone resubmitting it repeatedly, it could be sent to MfD so as to delete the draft and remove any false hope. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 06:51, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should see draftspace (and userspace) as training wheels for new editors, and not worry too much about what goes on there (as long as it isn't obviously harmful, of course), in the hope that at least a few of the editors who have a less-antagonistic early experience of Wikipedia will become good contributors in time? It was three months before I started a BLP whom I hadn't met personally though I think they all turned out to be notable, and I haven't turned out that bad as a contributor.{cn} Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 07:02, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Espresso Addict Perhaps I'm cynical, but I doubt the few editors who become good contributors in time start out their editing careers with a G'11able draft...but then again, perhaps this one, who actually improved the draft after a CSD nom, will be an exception. So, perhaps I should touch grass. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 07:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help with an article?

[edit]

Hey, want to look into an article with/for me? The article in question is M. R. Mathias. Long story short, the guy doesn't appear to be notable. There aren't any good notability-showing sources in the page at all, honestly. The only claim to fame is being nominated for the Locus Poll Award, but I do have a bit of a question about that.

Now, Locus Awards are obviously going to give notability if you win. That's never in question. What I'm questioning is if this goes through a different process than the normal Locus Awards, as they only nominate books they've reviewed. The source used for this seems to imply that the Poll Award goes through a different process, namely that participants (the readers) can submit any book they want as long as it is the right genre, length, and year of release. Basically, if it's the normal process of nomination that means there may be a Locus review out there and possibly more. If it's the one I think it is, then there possibly won't be.

I'd edited this page some years back and meant to come back to it later, but never got the chance. I think I admittedly also didn't want to delete the page given his history of overcoming prison and drug addiction, as I am kind of hesitant in reaching out now about it. I just figure if we both can't find sources, then the guy unfortunately doesn't pass NAUTHOR and it can go to AfD. Which is my other reason for reaching out. I'm not on as regularly as I once was, so I'm hesitant to nominate articles for AfD. I don't want to nominate and then not keep up with any discussions on the page. Lately I've been good about getting on but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to keep that pace up. Would you be willing to nominate? ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 18:59, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ReaderofthePack You're right. The man doesn't appear notable. A before search doesn't turn up much, and of course, the sources actually in the article aren't that great, either. If someone still living/recently deceased is this low-profile, it might be best to either get the article draftified/redirected/deleted at AfD, particularly if they've already overcome a lot in their life; we don't want someone to unexpectedly get a higher profile, which can bring its own issues. Fame is no pleasure cruise.
Occasionally, though, people will turn up with offline/paywalled sources at AfD, so who knows? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:08, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
