how to upload picture --Phumelele Madikane (talk) 15:26, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Phumelele Madikane First, you log into Wikimedia Commons with your Wikipedia account. Wikimedia Commons is a sister site to Wikipedia; if you have a Wikipedia account, you have a Commons account, and vice versa.
- Then, you go through the upload wizard, making sure the photo actually qualifies for inclusion on Commons. Basically, in theory, if anyone can put the image on a t-shirt and sell it, it can be uploaded to Commons.
- If the photo doesn't qualify for inclusion on Commons, then I suggest going through the tutorials I've linked to on your talk page to get some experience and intuition as to what Wikipedia has in both images and text. After a few days, you might be able to upload what's called a "fair use" image on Wikipedia, but fair use images are very, very rare here. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 17:58,
I'm better at using the editor so now I'm going to help some peeps learn to edit! (aka adopting peeps on wiki)

Hi! I'd like to translate a Wikipedia page (a task directly asked me from the owner of the page), but I watched a tutorial and it says that it is a tool available only for who's already made 500 edits and whose account is over 30 days old. The deadline for my task is before the end of this month though, is there some way to translate pages anyway even if I my account is a newborn? Thank you! --Milena Buffoni (talk) 18:28, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Milena Buffoni Hey. It's a good thing you asked about this. The answer to your question is basically, no it's not possible to use the tool you want to use with a new account. Also, there are some things you need to know:
- You need to disclose you are editing Wikipedia as part of a paid job. This is particularly true since your question is going to get archived at some point (hypothetically, this could happen in a few days!). Put a disclosure on your user page.
- It's incredibly difficult to write an article. In your situation, it's nearly impossible to write with the clinical tone needed for an encyclopedia. After you put your disclosure on your userpage, you can write a draft at articles for creation. When you are finished with the translation, you can submit the draft for review by a more experienced Wikipedian.
- Also keep in mind that each language Wikipedia has different policies that are largely influenced by different cultures; all because the person paying you has an article on one language Wikipedia doesn't mean they're noted enough to qualify for an article here. - Hi, thanks for the informations, but no one is paying for doing this, I’m volunteering to do so, it’s just that I’d need to do it as soon as possible, before the European elections. Anyways, thank you.. 62.19.19.233 (talk) 21:33, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Milena Buffoni If this is a literal volunteer job, then it might be a gray area and you should probably go ahead and disclose to be on the safe side. If this is more something you're doing for a friend, you don't have to disclose, but disclosure is still the most ethical course of action.

Hi, I have read your message. I don't write articles in English, but I want to contribute to Wikipedia Español.

Hey, questions:
Is it a real person I am assigned to or is it Wiki's bot? Also, am I invited somewhere to do something based on my activity on wiki or is it just a random thing?
Hope I'm not spamming. --Miles.Rider (talk) 17:56, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Miles.Rider Your questions/concerns, in order:
- I'm a real person.
- I'm pretty sure the tasks "assigned" to you are random; by the way, they're also optional but recommended, at least until you get more comfortable.
- You're not spamming.

Hi there, I have reason to believe that a scam website has been added as an external link to an artists page, leading people to believe the site is legitimate for purchasing the said art. How would I go about addressing this issue? --Revelinchaos (talk) 04:08, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Revelinchaos You can remove the link, leaving a brief explanation as to why in the edit summary. I'd really appreciate knowing the name of the article. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 04:36, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there!
Please call me Matt :)
I do actually have a question. So, on the page for Andrea Leadsom (UK MP), I added a paragraph which I hoped would display in the introduction - but it became the first paragraph of the main body. How can I move it?
Page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrea_Leadsom# Para reads: In May 2024, Leadsom announced that she will stand down as an MP in the 2024 United Kingdom general election.[6]
Many thanks M@ --FalstaffPieman (talk) 13:12, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @FalstaffPieman (or Matt!) You did put it in the introduction. The article body starts with the section titled "Early life and financial career." I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 13:17, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. In some cases, you have redirected albums that charted highly and sold several hundred thousand copies: [1], [2]. I don't know who would dispute that an album that charted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart, charted on at least three other national charts, and sold over 100,000 copies in the UK or the US (in the case of the former) is not notable. I'm aware some users feel more likely to redirect "articles unlikely to ever grow beyond stubs" per our notability guidelines, but please be a bit more discerning with what you redirect. Ss112 04:30, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Ss112: You don't understand; to be fair, a few others also don't understand. Lacking a special interest or formal education in the area of albums, I'm not particularly knowledgeable about them. It's not about "not growing beyond a stub," it's about sourcing. Redirects aren't deletion, nor are they inherently harmful to Wikipedia. By redirecting poorly sourced stubs, I'm giving people a chance to revert the redirect, then source the stub without giving them a deadline. Nominating the stub for deletion puts up a deadline but also allows people to determine whether or not sources actually exist; whether or not sources exist is the true foundation of notability. Between you and another user, there's been five reverts of the redirects I've made since I've last logged into Wikipedia; I can't nominate them all for deletion. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 16:06, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also came here to ask you to please stop redirecting articles about notable albums. Thanks ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:35, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Another Believer Please reference the articles when you revert my redirects. Thanks. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:18, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

They will be in attendance to film snippets of this gathering for the documentary. It is completely optional to be a part of the film and there will be protocols in place if you wish to not be filmed. If there are any questions about the filming please reach out to the filmmaker, Meg Vatterott (meg.vatterott@gmail.com). Meeting info:
