Hello there, and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. The article you have created already exists with a different title, Pink Floyd live performances. Instead of creating a duplicate article, please contribute to the already existing one. Thanks! --Nehwyn 10:08, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

an FYI for you

[edit]

Thought you would like to know...as an active member of the Pink Floyd project. Currently a rather arrogant POV editor (with VERY poor writing skills) has attempted a hijack of the Led Zeppelin article. The editor(editing as an IP) has been rv'd and the article temporarily semi-protected. He seems to have set his sights(perhaps as a vendetta) on purging the current FA status'd Pink Floyd article and reducing it to a fancruft page similar to his attempts on the LZ article. I have 2 admins watching over him but it will take due diligence by regular editors to maintain the current status of these "target" articles. The editor attempted to blank most of the Pink Floyd lead-in section which I rv'd. Perhaps you could rally some of the regular Pink Floyd editors/project members to try and quell any of the pending "quality kill" that the article may be facing. I can direct you to the Admins who are eyeing this situation should you require any assistance and I am not around to see what is going on. Good luck. 156.34.142.110 17:46, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

??? Just a quick observation. Only an Admin can Semi-P an article. Are you an Admin? You don't appear to have "the badges". I have several Wikipedia administrator friends. I was recently awarded a Barnstar by 2 of them. Both are familiar with the POV editors troublesome history. And both can be called on for help should the Floyd article require it. Hope that helps. 156.34.142.110 19:10, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is true. Putting the template on the article does not in fact protect it. Even if it was semi-protected, it could still be edited by logged-in editors. I would appreciate it if someone took the protection template off of it for now. I will keep the article on my watch list. Thanks, and please go careful with the reverts all. :) Bubba hotep 19:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note. I saw your post on the Pink Floyd talk page about anonymous users not being allowed to edit. I am an anonymous editor. I have several thousand edits to my credit. I have received many thanks you's and kudos from other editors including many Wikipedia administrators. And I have been awarded a Barnstar for my dedication to the Wiki-project. This is a static IP and it has been 'whitelisted' by the VandalProof community as a "trusted" editor. Do you truly feel like I should not be allowed to edit because I am anonymous? Is Ummagumma23 your real name? There are thousands of noble IPs making valid edits to Wikepedia everyday. And their are thousands of "vandalism only" user accounts created everyday. In order to prevent any potential damage to the Pink Floyd article by Dume7/IP71.X it will take a community effort. Do you not wish for me to be a part of the community? I certainly hope not. Assume good faith and civilty are the foundations Wikipedia is built on. Have a nice day. 156.34.142.110 13:10, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey 156.34.142.110, I am afraid you misunderstood Ummagumma 23, he/she meant and wanted to stop "that malicious anon and that malicious user"; I am sure that it was obvious, and that everybody here is aware that hundreds IP editors make their good work here everyday.Doktor Who 23:38, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
With regard to Dume7/IP71.X, I noticed that the style of his edit comments sounds very familiar to me, I would argue that he reminds me someone that doesn't want to allow me (and other editors) to edit Ambient music, New Age music and Space Music. Nevertheless I think it's too soon to assume anything for sure. Bye for now.Doktor Who 23:38, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About info on "Summer '68" article

[edit]

You stated that "Summer '68" was Richard Wright's final solo composition for the band. However, looking at the original credits, his last solo composition was "The Great Gig In The Sky". I'm guessing that you disregarded this song since Clare Torry's credits were later added; however, as the *original* credits stand, it is still a Rick Wright solo piece. Edit Summary & Previews

[edit]

Please describe your edits with the Edit Summary box. It is located just above the Save button you use. This makes it easier to understand edits when reading the page's History of edits. Also, please use the Show preview button to enable you to combine edits and reduce the number of Saves that you do. This avoids bulking out the edit History with lots of small edits. The Show preview button is located just to the right of the Save button that you use. Thanks. Hu 23:42, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New tasks at Wikiproject Pink Floyd

[edit]

Heyooooohoo, I posted a new msg at the WP PF. cheers. ^_^ --Doktor Who 18:54, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many, many thanks for your work at the WIKIPROJECT. do you want to help to go forward? :D ---Doktor Who 08:35, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey thanks. Pics are being deleted at a speed that really overcomes my chances to do anything, 'cos Im ver busy with my work, and I shouldnt spend here more than 2 or 3 hours for each day.
I've changed the structure of Syd Barrett, and added an important sentence, together with it reference, to Barrett's role as an influential guitarist. Please check it. The book is a worldwide well-known guitar handbook. It's very, VERY STRANGE, that such important reference hadn't been added before. It's something I should have done more than 1 year ago, but I really was upset by the harassment and stalking of some editors, so I almost left Wikipedia several times. For now, I 've decided to fight, hopefully the friendly ppl that I've met here will help.
So, urgently we need to involve other ppl, and replace pics. Dharmabum has been blocked only for his/her complains regarding pics deletion(s). Doktor Who 12:02, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hes been blocked because he complained about Picture deletions? how terrible. Im afraid i am of little help in the pictures area. I dont know how to upload pictures and i dont have any anyway, sorry. I suggest you recruit others, although im willing to help in other areas. By the way, one of the pics in the main article is going to be deleted tomorrow, it needs to be resized in order for it to be fair use. Ummagumma23 14:41 30 August 2007 (UTC).
Ok, thanks, I'll try to do my best, but I cant ensure that ill be here often these days, due to work's tasks here in my life. Hopefully u have checked my changes at Barrett's article in the meanwhile. c ya soon, bye.Doktor Who 13:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Changes seen absolutely fine, its good to see that the article mentions Syds guitar playing. If you and Dharmabum arent around, theres no way in which we can really start to launch this project :( I didnt realise the number of disruptive editors that there are. Meanwhile im looking around to see if i can recruit anyone to solve our picture problem i found this:
Hi! I've seen you around on Pink Floyd articles... Would you consider becoming a member of WikiProject Pink Floyd, a WikiProject which aims to expand and improve coverage of Pink Floyd on Wikipedia? Please feel free to join us.

--Dr. Who 00:31, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

could i use it? Also many members of the project no longer exist and should be removed from the participant list. Ummagumma23 14:49 30 August 2007 (UTC).

Yes, I almost forgot that useful template, let's use it. The inactive members must be moved in the list of inactive members that i created a while ago. Thank you again, it's a very huge work waiting for us. Now I have to go, I'll be back later today. ^_^ --Doktor Who 14:13, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What is that text at your main user page?--Doktor Who 21:29, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its a peice i wrote for the Piper at the gates of dawn album article when i was exapanding it, but it was taken off because it reads like an essay. Which is true but i think most people would agree with what i wrote in that section and i dont think its that POV really. I think it helps to explain more about the album for those who dont know about it.Ummagumma23 09:48 31 August 2007 (UTC).

IWell, if I had my own music site I would ask you to host that piece. Have you checked the Barrett's article? An editor has moved back again the "guitarist" section, renaming it; it's no longer at the beginning, but i didnt revert; what do you think?Doktor Who 09:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Doktor Who. I personally think that some of what you wrote should go in the introduction. In my view the introduction in the Syd Barrett article is very weak as there is no real explaination of his imapct on music. I know some of that stuff is in the article already but i think that for someone who doesnt know Syd Barrett they should be made aware immediatley of his contributions to music. I think that moving what you wrote into a different section is perfectly acceptable, just so long as it remains in there. Ummagumma23 14:04 31 August 2007 (UTC).

Pink Floyd and wikiprojects

[edit]

Hi there. While I'd rather not join any wikiprojects (I'd much rather contribute when and where I like rather than commit to something specific), I'm always glad to help out with Pink Floyd stuff. I'm planning to sort out some of the other unreleased material, so look for that in the future. Cheers! The Parsnip! 20:05, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, there's Murderistic Woman, Keep Smiling People, and The Massed Gadgets of Hercules, which we know became different songs later on. I need to check when I get home. I'm thinking about adding a "one off" section to the Pink Floyd template where we can add stuff like "Nick's Boogie". As for the images, you're probably having trouble with fair use images being deleted. I had to learn the hard way that this is an unwinnable battle. Jimbo, administrators, etc. are determined to only allow fair use images in very narrow and specific situations (the definition of which changes daily), so I've learned there's almost no point in even trying. Eventually, fair use will be eliminated from Wikipedia altogether, this is only a matter of time. The Parsnip! 20:14, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of AHOY

[edit]

AHOY, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that AHOY satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/AHOY and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of AHOY during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Cruftbane 06:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on List of Pink FLoyd songs by singe, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. A tag has been placed on List of Pink Floyd songs by singer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,

Your page List_of_Pink_Floyd_songs_by_singer has been tagged for speedy because it is too short, I will leave it be, but next time try creating it as a user sub page: User:Ummagumma23/List_of_Pink_Floyd_songs_by_singer until you have finished it.

The Helpful One (Talk) (Contributions) 21:42, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah ok, Thanks. Ummagumma23 (talk) 21:42, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I wanted to ask you about your recent edit to this page. The wording doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't saying he was originally born Roger David Waters (or w/e it is) imply that he was also born something else? I just fail to see how the change in wording is an improvement. Carl.bunderson (talk) 18:03, 21 December 2007 (UTC

His real name is George. If you dont think it makes sense revert my edit. Ummagumma23 (talk) 21:45, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's simpler the other way, and expresses what you want it to. I'll change it back since you don't mind. Carl.bunderson (talk) 22:27, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is your only warning.
The next time you violate Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy by inserting unsourced defamatory content into an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did to John Prescott, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This account seems to have stopped editing Pink Floyd-related articles since May and is now vandalising. I can only assume that this account is compromised and requires blocking to protect both the reputation of its rightful owner and this encyclopedia. Rodhullandemu 19:51, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning; the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at John Prescott, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Your attempt to revert your own vandalism was unsuccessful. All of your recent edits have been either vandalism, or unconstructive at best. You've previously received an "only warning".
