Please do not add unhelpful and non-constructive information to Wikipedia, as you did to communism. Your edits could be considered vandalism, and they have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.Pat Payne 22:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Even So...

[edit]

I agree that Stalin was a bloodthirsty maniac who had absolutely no place running a civilized state of any kind. However, with all due respect: He self-identified as a Communist, saw himself as a defender of Communism, paid at least token lip service to Marx and Lenin, and ruled a Communist state in the form of the USSR. Again, with all deference and respect to your point of view, most reputable history books would deign to argue with your assessment. But on the other hand, from a certain point of view, you may well be right as well.

Yet, merely blanking out the article and replacing it with the edits that you made in the manner you made them is disruptive to the article and to other editors. I suggest that the best way to get your point across is to use the "talk" pages for the particular article in this case Talk:Communism and help build community consensus. There may be a way to get your information presented (indeed, you are correct that Lenin did pen a note in his last months urging that Stalin not be given power) that doesn't disrupt the flow of the article. But do it in a way that works with them, not unilaterally.

I hope that this doesn't sour you on editing Wikipedia. Everybody gets their edits reverted once in a while, and there is disagreement. But disagreement and debate is the heart of finding the truth in everything. Remember -- the person who tells you "the debate is over" unless it's something patently obvious like "the sun rises in the east" is lying.

Have a good one, and happy editing.. Pat Payne 23:10, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
