Help on VZW page

[edit]

Hello!

The VZW page could really, really use your help. It's extremely outdated, so whatever you can do to help will be much appreciated!

More on VZW

[edit]

What really needs to be done is the "Content Delivery Systems" needs to be replaced with "Verizon Wireless Apps" because V Cast was shut down, so that is irrelevant.

Also, the "Friends and Family" should be replaced "More Everything".

If you give basic outlines, I can incorporate it.

Thanks! Myriad Pro (talk) 21:55, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So sorry I didn't see your message until now, looks like it's been fixed... can you help with the VZW page some more? it still is missing some stuff...

Thanks! Myriad Pro (talk) 21:10, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for checking back with me, Myriad Pro. With some help, I've just started working on a draft for the History for Verizon Wireless. I hope you'll bear with me, as there's a lot of information to work through, but I will be back soon with something for you to take a look at. VZBob (talk) 21:39, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, thanks. They also need some more info on their Apps and Service plans. Myriad Pro (talk) 16:25, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unrelated to wikipedia

[edit]

But the DSLReports forums would love to have you, since you are so knowledgable about Verizon!

New History

[edit]

I like it, shall I put it in? Also, some help on the "apps" section and "awards" section would be appreciated.Myriad Pro (talk) 13:49, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Myriad Pro. If it looks good to you and you've no concerns at all, it would be great if you could put it in. I'm already looking at the other sections, and hope to have something for you soon.
By the way, when I posted my note on the article's Talk page, a list of references that were used in someone's post years ago appeared directly underneath mine. I was going to ask if you would be willing to help clean that up by setting up archiving of old discussions on that page, but saw in a recent conversation with Cyphoidbomb on your Talk page that you haven't archived before. I wonder if they might be able to help? Several of the posts are 10 years old and the discussion page is pretty lengthy. Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 20:20, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed - When people use <ref></ref> tags on talk pages, we need to use the {{reflist-talk}} template at the end of the section so the refs don't bleed into other conversations. I've also set up the talk page to be archived every 6 months. The bot will take care of most of the archiving it in the next few days, I'd imagine. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:48, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Myriad Pro. Thank you so much for updating the "History" section of the Verizon Wireless page! Much appreciated. I've updated my request on the Verizon Wireless Talk page to let others know this is done. As the issue of using "supercookies" and the subsequent opt-out is now included in the "History" section, what do you think about removing the "Controversies" section? Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 16:39, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I was also thinking about that. I think Controversies should be removed. I'll do it this weekend unless there's any opposition, which there doesn't seem to be. Myriad Pro (talk) 13:04, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Updates to Apps

[edit]

Hello!

I added in your VZW Apps section. The pricing tables were removed before I got to the article, but I added the tables back in w/o prices, since I think they were helpful.

Could you just do a quick clean up of VZW Network? That section is mostly good, but could probably be a little better.

Thanks! Myriad Pro (talk) 00:25, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Myriad Pro, thanks for taking a look and making these changes. I am working on additional proposed updates for the Verizon Wireless page and I should be posting on the Talk page soon. Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 20:28, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Any update on this? the Network section currently reads like a timeline. Also, the FiOS article can use some help (if you can help there). Myriad Pro (talk) 01:43, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Myriad Pro, I am working on the Network section now, and I will post my suggested edits on the Verizon Wireless Talk page once they are completed. Verizon Fios is the next Verizon article on my list. Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 19:14, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Verizon FiOS

[edit]

I undid the move-- Verizon FiOS is seperate from frontier. Myriad Pro (talk) 21:40, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Verizon Pt 2

[edit]

Hi!

Hope you've been well. I loved the edits to the VZW page. I can honestly say that I think that's one of the best wireless carrier pages on wikipedia, largely thanks you to.

If you could take a peek at the FiOS page, and main Verizon Communications page, that would be awesome. Both of those need a lot of help.

Thank you so much! Myriad Pro (talk) 21:14, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Myriad Pro: Thanks. I've started looking into updating the Fios article. Meantime, could you explain a bit more about the issues you see in the Verizon Communications article? I have previously worked with editors on updating that article, but I am happy to revisit if there are any concerns. VZBob (talk) 12:45, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@VZBob: Thanks! The history section reads a lot like a timeline, like the VZW article used too. That's the main sore spot. Thanks again. Myriad Pro (talk) 22:48, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Updating article

[edit]

Hello, I've put together a few updates for this page that I hope volunteer editors can look at and make changes if they look okay. There are no major edits here. Instead, a few items that can help clean up the article.

Infobox

  • Revenue, Operating income, Net income, Total assets, Total equity, and Number of employees are referencing the wrong source. Currently, the infobox contains 2016 figures, yet the 2014 Form 10-K is cited. These figures should reference the 2016 annual report. Here is the proper citation:

<ref name="VZAnnualReport16">{{cite web |url=http://www.verizon.com/about/sites/default/files/annual_reports/2016/downloads/Verizon-AnnualReport2016.pdf |title=Annual Report |date=2016 |publisher=Verizon Communications |accessdate=31 January 2018}}</ref> Acquisition of GTE (2000–2002)

  • This portion of History details more than just the acquisition of GTE, including the formation of Verizon Wireless. I propose it be renamed Formation of Verizon, or Verizon's early years.

2011–present

  • There is a tag here that asked why Ivan Seidenberg stepped down as Verizon's CEO on August 1, 2011. Mr. Seidenberg retired. Perhaps that sentence could be rewritten: Ivan Seidenberg stepped down as CEO and retired as chairman in 2011 as part of the company's succession process.[1][2]
  • The "registered trademark" symbols should be deleted from A+E Networks®. The Manual of Style says: Do not use the ™ and ® symbols, or similar, in either article text or citations, unless unavoidably necessary for context.

Because I'm an employee of Verizon and won't edit the article myself, I'd like to ask editors to review these changes and make them if all looks good. Please let me know if there are any comments or questions. Thanks so much, VZBob (talk) 21:43, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Farewell

[edit]

From one ancient dingaling (Net Credited Service Date 9 June 1969) to another, I hope you do well wherever you are going. I'm sorry I didn't do more to help you while you were a Wikipedian. Perhaps you would like to do some editing on other topics on your own time, presumably with a username of your own.
