Welcome![edit]

Hello, Valentina valentine, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Sarita Khurana[edit]

Major Revisions Needed

  • This needs to be properly formatted before being published
  • Citations are missing from the Career section
  • References must be properly formatted and linked to their use in the article
  • Refer to the filmmaker by their last name, not their first
  • Film titles should be italicized
  • If referring to Sept 11, 2001 in short form it is "9/11" not "911"
  • Much of this is a description of the films themselves, more needs to be said about Khurana herself.
  • More needs to be added to this article for the 500 word count required.

Notes[edit]

Hi! I moved your article back to your userspace since it still needs work before it can be moved live. Here are my notes:

  • This needs editing for tone, as it's currently written as very favorable towards the director and isn't neutral. Avoid things like "alluring and compelling", as these are seen as opinion terms and will be subjective to the reader. We can say that she has directed films that have received praise (as long as there are sources to back this up), but the article shouldn't come across as too favorable towards her.
  • This needs more sourcing to establish notability and to back up the claims. All of the sources in the article are primary, as they're links to the film festivals that showed Khurana's films. You can use primary sources to back up basic details, but you will still need secondary, reliable sources to show notability. You can use things like film reviews or coverage in newspapers like this.
  • Be careful of grammar and spelling.

Something to keep in mind is that sourcing does not have to be in English, if there is coverage in other languages. Also, I can definitely help you if you have any questions or need assistance. (Film related articles and biographies are one of my favorite areas on Wikipedia.) Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:45, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Valentina valentine. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em) 15:40, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi GSS! This student doesn't have a conflict of interest with this article - they're just enthusiastic and still getting used to the different writing styles on Wikipedia, so no worries! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:46, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Valentina, I've tweaked the early life section to give you a general idea of how the sections should read as far as NPOV goes. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:04, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Sarita Khurana has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is no significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject as required by WP:GNG and fails WP:CREATIVE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
