A quibble[edit]

Is "It's about time we elect an arb who actually knows how a bot works" a reflection on my skills or signs of a waning memory?  :-) — Coren (talk) 11:50, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry... my memory failed me when I wrote that. Thanks for pointing that out to me (I frankly forgot that you run a bot). I'll update the guide accordingly. Vyvyan Basterd (talk) 13:31, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your oppose[edit]

Mind if I ask you the same question I asked NW? Since you're opposing me on BLP grounds, can I presume you've gone ahead and read through Wikipedia_talk:Arbitration_Committee_Elections_December_2010/Candidates/Jclemens/Questions#BLP_Issues? If so, I'd be interested in honest feedback on what you believe to be incorrect about my BLP stance(s). I've said and done so much with respect to BLPs over the past year or two, that your oppose itself doesn't tell me all that much. Thanks! Jclemens (talk) 17:06, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll reword my oppose because I can understand why this is confusing you. Vyvyan Basterd (talk) 14:30, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow--thanks for taking that amount of time and putting forth a public clarification. That was actually more than what I had in mind. Your opinion is yours, and every such summary for the voters is necessarily a sound-bite version of the guide writer's own rationale. I was just hoping for a more detailed analysis/response for my own edification. I certainly don't want to badger you, and I'm happy if the community picks 11 better candidates than me, but I do want to understand why I am perceived as being out of step--because I think I do take BLP just as seriously as anyone else, even with my concerns of balance, and to the extent that I have a blind spot, the people who're willing to stand up in public and say "not him" are the people most likely to give me honest and useful feedback on my faults.
