Unblock/Reason/ Appeal the Unblock
Hello! I received your notice that WYTV7 is blocked from further editing by us. I feel this blocking requires another review by you. The reason – we were not intentionally breaking Wikipedia editing rules. Before you make your second review, please listen to our position. This is our first attempt at becoming a participating member of Wikipedia. The following notes explain our intent: 1.) My goal was not to advertise or inject commercial information about WYTV7 Christian Broadcasting Network. As a faith-based nonprofit broadcasting and media network business, we try to reach people that feel they need a helping hand to pull themselves out of challenging life situations. The information I wrote on Wikipedia explains to them and others - who we are and what we do to help people take charge of their lives. This is not advertising. It’s sharing with the world our purpose, our goal and our successes working with people from diverse backgrounds.
2.) I was using the online “Wikipedia Missing Manual” to learn how to navigate your website. As I learned a new feature, I applied it as an edit to WYTV7’s “Wiki” site. I admit, it took trial and error for me to learn and apply edits to the WYTV7 information. But I did not give up. I’m asking you to take that into consideration.
3.) All my efforts and work were done in the “personal edits” section of Wikipedia. And in order to see the changes made as I learned the program , I had to “review changes and then publish. I understood my edits were not information that would be seen by the public. It was for my eyes only. But after completing all the edits, I understood I had to submit my final edit for review. I was prepared to do that.
4.) The baffling part is not understanding the reason you reviewed my work before it was ready for review. It was a practice area for me to learn Wikipedia. I should not have been penalized for learning to use Wikipedia out of the site of the public. If anything, I would have been glad to hear from you with suggestions for navigating through ‘WIKI”. For that reason, I’m requesting that you reconsider your block on the WYTV7 Wikipedia site. I think Wikipedia is an ideal platform to learn about almost anything on the planet. We – WYTV7- have over 250k likes on Facebook and we want to share with them our positive experience with Wikipedia. That would not be possible if we could not continue using our call letters WYTV7 and redirecting people to your website. People recognize our WYTV7 call letters and we want them to share with others they saw it on Wikipedia. Seeing WYTV7 on Wikipedia would be additional proof that validates they’re successfully pulling themselves out of difficult life challenges.
I am respectfully asking you to reverse the editing block placed on WYTV7. Our intent was honorable. We are willing to cooperate with Wikipedia and spread the word that your website is a good place to come for help and answers to life questions. Sincerely, WYTV7 Christian Broadcasters Network
