Hi Watts97, are you related to Ivor Watts? A few questions for you... would you know whether Ivor played rugby union in Wales before moving north? If so, do you know who he played for? Would you know whether Ivor played in Cumberland for Barrow, Whitehaven, or Workington Town, as it seems unusual for a Welshman in Hull to play for Cumberland? Also, was Ivor really only 145 cm (4 ft 9 in) tall? Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 17:10, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DynamoDegsy, yes i am related to Ivor Watts. He is my great grandad and i knew him quite well and had a strong relationship with him. No he didn't play union in Wales he just played league. I am not sure on which team he played for Cumberland as no one can find this information out as it hasn't been written down. Yes it sounds unusual but he did play for Cumberland as they needed a good winger so he was chosen. We are not exactly sure of his height but he was quite small but fast for a winger. Watts97
Hi Watts97, thanks for the reply. Would you know whether your Great-Granddad moved to Hull/Cumberland to play rugby, or moved to Hull/Cumberland for work, and signed for Hull/team in Cumberland later? Playing county rugby for Cumberland is not as odd as it might seem, as in rugby league, county representation was not necessarily based on county of birth, but in which county you were playing at time, but what is unusual is he appears to have played for Cumberland in the middle of his time at Hull. I've tried to find details of your Great-Granddad’s birth on FreeBMD, and I've found this. Don't be fooled by the reference to March 1925, as this just means the birth was registered in the first quarter of 1925, which is plausible as he was born between Christmas and New Year, also the mention of Merthyr Tydfil, means the district of Merthyr Tydfil, not necessarily the town of Merthyr Tydfil. Would you know whether your Great-Granddad served in the forces, or was he in a reserved occupation? Do you have any newspaper or matchday programmes from his playing days that can be used as references? Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 08:43, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DynamoDegsy, my great-grandad moved to Hull and just played rugby for them. Then he was selected to play for Cumberland once the season had finished for Hull FC. I am not exactly sure as he didn't say much about playing rugby. I asked my grandad and all he knows is that he moved to Hull and played for Hull FC, assistant coach and coach. Also that he was selected for Cumberland and has a medal which he got for it. I do have a match day programme which I got given from when I think he played a match. Also do you know how to sort the page out as I have tried to add sources and references and it still dosen't seem to be enough. Watts97

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help.
