Advertising
[edit]Hello, I see you are posting alot of links to a specific website aswell as create and article on it. Please read our policy regarding advertising before continueing. Continuation of posting links in such a manner could result in blocking of editing priviledges. HighInBC 17:16, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- All the links are to free stuffWayp123 17:28, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Regardless this is not the place to promote anything. Please read WP:SPAM, it details this very clearly. I have removed your links. If you cannot establish the reliablity of this software with third party reliable sources then the article will be deleted too. This is an encyclopedia. HighInBC 17:30, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- How do I get permission to put links, like other people have done. Wayp123 17:34, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, in the policy WP:SPAM it tells you all about that, did you read it? The specific section dealing with this is WP:SPAM#How_not_to_be_a_spammer. But the reality is that the way you get anything in here is through discussion and consensus with other editors. HighInBC 17:37, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Also, if you see any other links that look like advertising, go ahead and remove them with an edit summery like: Removing advert. If you think I am wrong, you can also go to the talk page of the article and ask the others, I will repect their consensus(I do not have any special authority). HighInBC 17:37, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- How do I meet the others Wayp123 17:46, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, there are 3 main ways that I can think of right now:
- Pick a subject, go to it's talk page and talk. The editors there will respond if the article is active.
- Pick a person, click on their name and go to their talk page. They should respond if they are around.
- Contribute to the encyclopedic value of articles. People will come to your talk page and thank you.
There is of course several discussion boards such as the Wikipedia:Community_Portal and the Wikipedia:Village_pump. Glad to help, if you need any info about anything else just ask me on my talk page. HighInBC 17:50, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Please download and install bookbuddi and tell me what you think of it, it may help get me in. Wayp123 17:53, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
You are already in. You just are not allowed to advertise here, no level of inness allows for that. I will check out your software if it is open source, but if not I probably will not as I am very carefull about what I install. HighInBC 17:59, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
It is free to use although hacker protected with softwrap with some limitations on creating books with free version. You can download it from simtel.net who have vetted the software to ensure it is not malicious and virus riddled.
I have added the source to my article, and to prove that I am the auther please send an email to the address on the bookbuddi homepage. Wayp123 18:20, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- A source refers to a third party source, we do not allow original reasearch, only previously published information by third parties.
WP:SOFTWikipedia:Notability (software) gives specific notability requirements for an article on software. HighInBC 18:27, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
can i use simtel.net as a source since they have published bookbuddi for me Wayp123 18:32, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- I am sorry, I gave you the wrong link above. I gave you WP:SOFT when I meant to give you Wikipedia:Notability (software). That should clear everything up for you as to what is required. But the short answer is no, while simply publishing your software does provide verifiablility is does not prove notability.. HighInBC 18:36, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Also since you are writing about your own product your should read Wikipedia:Autobiography. HighInBC 18:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
I have changed the 1st line, heading future development to limitations and the source Wayp123 18:59, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
As far as I understand you need to be famous to be on this site, bye for now Wayp123 19:19, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- That is correct. You need some fame to get into an encyclopedia. HighInBC 19:37, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Matrix (mathematics) do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jakob.scholbach (talk) 22:08, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Eigenvalue, eigenvector and eigenspace. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by some search engines, including Google. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Jakob.scholbach (talk) 22:10, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
