Problems at WP:AfD

[edit]

Hi, We99, welcome to Wikipedia! I see that there are some problems on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hans Boepple page that you have contributed to. Please take a look at User:Uppland's request to you to replace your original comment, and to place any new comments at the bottom of the page. This is the normal way of conducting a discussion on this site; as Uppland says, the discussion becomes impossible to follow if people revise their original comments. It makes replies by other people look irrelevant, for one thing, and it stops the reader from seeing the chronology of the comments. Since you're a new user, I thought you might not yet be very at home with retrieving old versions from the History tab (that's where all edits to the page are recorded). Therefore, I've gone ahead and restored your original comment to the page (this one, from just before the second person edited the page; as Uppland says, it's really necessary to do that. Please put any additional comments, or modifications of your original statements, at the bottom of the page. I paste your latest version here, below, in case you want to use it for the new comments. I hope this is OK, and please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. (Drop a note on my Talk page.) Best, Bishonen | talk 00:39, 6 November 2005 (UTC).[reply]

Here is your newest version: If Boepple is a noted classical performer, where is his concert or touring schedule? An occassional concert at the university where he teaches doesn't qualify as a concert pianist. Hundreds of piano competitions are held every year with hundreds of winners. Boepple is not notable in that regard. The fact that SCUMATT would call him a "Master Pianist" in the Hans Boepple Wikipedia article underneath a picture of Boepple smacks of self-promotion and egomania. Does Boepple really believe he is a "Master Pianist" relative to the other pianists listed on Wikipedia? Links to university written articles about him are suspect. If his recordings are notable, where are the reviews of those recordings? This does not deserve to be in an encyclopedia, as it is vanity and not notable. Nadia Boulanger had people like Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein as her students. Has Boepple produced anyone close to an Aaron Copland? If Boepple thinks he is Nadia, Boepple is an egomaniac because he hasn't done the work to rise to level that Nadia has. If Boepple has made important contributions to the music field, there should be a list of published papers, if his contributions were original and worth putting into writing. You don't have to have a PhD to publish something worthwhile.
Hi We99, I took a look at how things are going now at the AfD. Thanks very much for for indulging me, I really appreciate it. The way the dialogue is going there now, I don't for my part think the inclusionists have a leg to stand on, your argument is very persuasive. Thanks again. --Second opinion, here: Bishonen is, in fact, being very polite. It is policy that one is not allowed to change the text of one's vote. If you no longer agree with what you had said, or if you believe that what you have written is inappropriate, you may strike out your previous comment, but you leave it in place, exactly as it was and then write whatever new you have to say underneath the original. To perform the strike-through, place <s> at the beginning of the text to be stricken and </s> at the end of the stricken text. That way, it remains in place so that other readers/editors/voters can see what comment had drawn original comment. Again, do not change the text of your vote. If your vote contains a personal attack, and you wish to remove the insult, you are better off using the strike-through; however, if you had been particularly insulting and wish to remove the text of the insult, you may, but only if you put in its place text indicating that you have removed an insult that you made. (Do not remove insults written by others. Leave that for an administrator to do.) This is not optional behavior. Geogre 15:37, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

AfD and new articles

[edit]

Please consider directing your skills and energy towards creating new articles or improving existing ones rather than nominating articles for deletion. It's more fun to be able to point to an article and say "I helped create that" than to point to a blank screen and say "I helped delete that."" TruthbringerToronto 23:27, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
