Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Weluvgataa. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Monique Dupree, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ミラP 15:28, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edits[edit]

Hi Weluvgataa, Welcome to the Encyclopedia,
Unfortunately your edits at Monique Dupree have been reverted due to various issues, You need to stop editing the article and go to the talkpage to discuss your edits/changes,
A big part of editing here is talking to editors and basically reaching wp:consensus on things on the talkpage
Also if you are Monique Dupree or are related to her then you need to stop editing the article and use the talkpage (please read [[wp:conflict of interest),
If you need any help or have any questions just ask on my talkpage and i'll help the best I can, Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 19:23, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to what Davey2010 said, I'd add the Wikipedia is pretty different from other websites. Unlike the IMDb, you have to cite sources for the content you wish to add, and nobody is in control of how the content is presented. The sources also have to be what we consider "reliable", such as reputable newspapers and magazines. We don't accept sources that can be edited by the public, such as the IMDb. However, if you post personal information from a verified social media account, we can use that. We can also use interviews that you've given to the press. And, as long as the content is not too promotional, we can use information from your own official website, if you have one. These rules may seem overly complex and bureaucratic, but they also work to protect you from people adding gossip to your article. The reason why we ask that you propose changes on the article's talk page is because it's very difficult to remain neutral and dispassionate when writing about yourself.
