Autobiography?[edit]

Wikipedia recommends not attempting an autobiographical article (see WP:AUTO) but does not forbid it. All content must be referenced. David notMD (talk) 03:37, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

See Notable Faculty articles at Yale School of Medicine to see what articles about faculty look like. Your second paragraph is written in a promotional tone, and must be deleted. Wording such as "elite group, his work some of the first in the world, relentless advocate, have brought international recognition," are all 'peacock' wording that is not allowed. David notMD (talk) 03:48, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My edits to your draft are with the intent of making the draft more likely to be accepted by a reviewer once submitted. I am not a reviewer, but I put in a lot of time at Teahouse advising new editors. Going forward, it is essential that references be added that are ABOUT Rajagopalan. David notMD (talk) 22:45, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

All factual statements need to be verified by reliable source references. See Help:Referencing for beginners for how to. As holder of an endowed chair, SR meets Wikipedia's criteria for academic notability, but this needs a lot of work before it is submitted. David notMD (talk) 12:53, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

References wrong[edit]

That is not how references are created, and if you submit the draft now, it will be declined. Again, see Help:Referencing for beginners. References are inserted in the text following the factual statements that the refs verify. The software inserts a superscripted number in the text and places the refs in the References section. Again, confirming his publications is useful, but what is important are refs ABOUT him. David notMD (talk) 03:21, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, most of the new references do not contribute to establishing notability in the Wikipedia sense of the word. Those are news reports on human studies in which SR is identified as researcher. The content about SR is a very small part of the news item - in some instances only a name mention or a quote.
See examples at Category:American medical academics for how to write and reference. If you go to a section of an article about a person and click on Edit (top menu) you can see what inserted references look like in the text, bracketed by ref and /ref inside < > brackets. Getting closer to ready-to-submit[edit]

Rajagopalan is clearly notable in the Wikipedia use of the word, and hence an article will succeed. There are still entire sections without references, for examples, Education, Career, Awards. If a current place of employment has a biography, that would work as a ref for some of the information.

Not needed for this to be submitted, but a photograph would be nice. The problem is that it must be submitted by the photographer, not the subject. One way is to have a family member take a photo, create an account, and submit it to Commons. David notMD (talk) 11:49, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Research in environmental transformation and health sustainability and Awards and memberships have duplication of content. David notMD (talk) 19:24, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
References follow punctuation. David notMD (talk) 00:04, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Research section needs refs, or else cut what cannot be verified. David notMD (talk) 04:44, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

From my 15+ years of experience with Wikipedia, including 4+ years as a Teahouse host, advising editors, none of what you have listed as External links are valid, and should all be deleted. A valid EL would be the website of the place where Rajagopalan is employed, to a biosketch for him. Other than that, I recommend submitting to see what a reviewer thinks. The AfC draft backlog is more than 2,000 drafts. The system is not a queue, so it could be days, weeks, or sadly, months before a reviewer selects your draft. David notMD (talk) 16:37, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I will work on the external links section. SanjayRajagopalan (talk) 17:19, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We have a bit of a career location overlap, as I taught, briefly, at Cornell University Medical College before leaving academia for industry. Now retired. David notMD (talk) 22:32, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats on creation. While there are still some issues that need cleanup, notability is clearly established. As you are the subject of the article, WP:AUTO and WP:COI strongly encourage you to make any further changes through WP:EDITREQUEST on the talk page. Following this best practice will make future edits more productive and less likely to raise concerns of other editors. Slywriter (talk) 17:25, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
