Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Wise owl 2. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Georgina Long, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Good morning, I am an inexperienced Wikipedia contributor and would like some direction, if possible in relation to additional information about Georgina, with whom I have an association that was recently removed. This information is useful biographic detail that Wikipedia readers may find helpful to create a deeper understanding of Georgina. Are you able to point me in the right direction? Wise owl 2 (talk) 21:48, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thank you for replying and confirming your conflict of interest. Your best course of action is to post edit requests on the article's Talk page, supplying references for any new information. The guidance here tells you how to do that. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 21:57, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, you have said on the article's Talk page that you are a member of Long's family. Please follow the conflict of interest guidance by not editing the article directly. Tacyarg (talk) 19:55, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 20:31, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks, I think that I might now be on the right path by requesting page edits for Long via an edit requests posted on the talk page. Are you able to let me know whether this is the right approach? If it is the right approach, can the conflict of interest box be removed from
Long’s page? Wise owl 2 (talk) 20:46, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Rusty Cat. I noticed that in this edit to Georgina Long, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Rusty 🐈 00:53, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. I am very new to Wikipedia and am finding it to be a steep learning curve. I have clarified the rationale for the removal of this text. Wise owl 2 (talk) 01:03, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
