Speedy deletion of Women's Campaign Forum

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Women's Campaign Forum, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. RayAYang (talk) 20:36, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Women's Campaign Forum. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion. Thank you. RayAYang (talk) 20:59, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Women's Campaign Forum

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Women's Campaign Forum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles, as you did to Women's Campaign Forum. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. RayAYang (talk) 21:02, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Women's Campaign Forum

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Women's Campaign Forum, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Women's Campaign Forum Foundation article

[edit]

Hi. It looks like you've been attempting to write an article on this subject, and are meeting with some resistance. Take a deep breath, relax - we're here to help. Wikipedia has almost 2,500,000 articles, with submissions every day; we can't keep all of them, unfortunately, so we have some standards for inclusion. These generally take the form of our Notability guideline, which you'll want to read if you haven't already had the chance. Is the subject notable? Who says so? Those are questions you'll want to think about for this article.

The concern posted when the article was listed for deletion was "No indication that subject is notable", so you'll want to find some sources that can show the notable things that the organization does. News articles are good here, but anything that is both reliable and Independent will work.

I also note that your username matches the article's subject. You'll want to read through our conflict of interest policy, which discusses such situations. It's hard to write a neutral article if you're affiliated with the subject.

Since the article was about to be deleted, I took the liberty of moving it to your userspace, where it can be found at User:Womenscampaignforum/Draft Article. Feel free to work on improving the article, bearing some of these thoughts in mind, before posting it back to the article space. You can also ping my talk page if you need additional assistance. Hello! You deleted a page I created entitled "Women's Campaign Forum Foundation". I have changed the content completely to reflect an unbiased point of view and would like to know what you recommend if order to make sure this page is not deleted. I am new to wikipedia and am still figuring out how to add references and whatnot. If you could help me to ensure that the page I am creating fits with Wikipedia's standards, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Womenscampaignforum (talkcontribs) 15:59, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. In future, please sign your messages by typing ~~~~ at the end.
You would need to show how the foundation is notable. The draft article you have written does not seem to show that. Stifle (talk) 09:32, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
