Deletion request

[edit]

This had been nominated for deletion. However I oppose this, as I created this and the NCO template, as the generic NATO country rank templates automatically created from the comparative table (see eg. Officer ranks) and don't exactly fit the Finnish rank system in its actual usage (the source for the comparison is incomplete, slightly erroneous and has been supplemented by unsourced material and a proper STANAG 2116 revision including the Finnish ranks for a proper conversion has not yet been given out) - this is effectively a mirror of the template of the table on the page for the Finnish military ranks. While the aforementioned page uses the raw template for better editability, this (along with the NCO and enlisted template) is the only linkable template which has the correct division to general, senior and junior officers, omitting the incorrect OF(D) and officer student references (the Finnish Officer Cadet is an OF-1 rank, the Officer Candidate an OR-5 and Officer Student an OR-4 rank); similarly the NCO template is the only with the correct division to NCO and enlisted as well as omitting the actually nonexistent rank of Recruit. Until the correct conversion from the upcoming STANAG 2116 revision is available, the NATO template is incorrect and these templates created by me are more correct; the reason why I daredn't edit the NATO template is that it reflects the (however incorrect) sole source. All in all, I would like to hear other opinions too. XoravaX (talk) 10:53, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@XoravaX: you should move this comment to the deletion discussion; it is highly unlikely to be seen here. Ljleppan (talk) 13:35, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
