Coup

[edit]

I'll have a look, no problem. Might not be till the weekend though. Currently bogged down in trying to trim Hutton to a more reasonable length! --Sarastro1 (talk) 22:36, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 PapaJohns.com Bowl FAC

[edit]

Thanks for your extensive comments regarding American football jargon at the FAC for 2010 PapaJohns.com Bowl. If you have a chance, could you take another look at the article and comment whether you believe it fully meets the featured article criteria? I would very much appreciate it. Grondemar 16:52, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For us monoglots, could we have a translation?

[edit]

My capacity to type Vietnamese correctly, combined with my horrible English only language capacity, means that google translate renders something like: Contact when there's a solution to the majority. When wine is a revolution. [untranslatable by google, but something about inappropriate policing / security]. Fifelfoo (talk) 02:08, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Do not associate with the reactionary monkey! The YellowMonkey is a counter-revolutionary! By order of the communist party and public security [communist euphemism for secret and normal police] of Wikipedia" YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 02:21, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Eep! I've read what happened to dissident communists in times of crisis in Vietnam! Fifelfoo (talk) 02:23, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to anti-communists under VCP not communists in South Vietnam..... YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 02:26, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I know. I was referring to the Saigon Trots in the 40s and the war-line debates in the 60s, and to a lesser extent, Southern members after 1975. All Bad Things. Fifelfoo (talk) 02:29, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Super Nguyễn

[edit]

Whilst assigning articles to WPBio tonight I came across this wonderful story - Nguyễn_Văn_Minh_Tiến. Question is, is he notable enough to remain? Should we keep him & get rid of all of the Home & Away actors? Is this a reliable source? Why don't we have a WP:WikiProject Crime fighters? I think it's bed time! The-Pope (talk) 16:51, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As a human interest story, he seems to have done quite well, per the interwiki. Vnexpress and the other sources are good enough as this has about as many political ramifications as sport does, so it isn't a threat to the communist govt and there isn't much of a need to lie or anything. YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 01:38, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you may speak Vietnamese?

[edit]

If so, please could you provide some input at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dang Thi Minh Hanh (2nd nomination)? Thanks—S Marshall T/C 09:04, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Norman Yardley

[edit]

I've left some comments at the FAC page. I'm starting to get into this topic! On another matter, I'm looking for some pictures for the Yardley article which I may put up at FAC fairly soon. As usual, no English images from the period, but I wondered if you had any from the 46-47 tour, especially as he captained the fifth Test. I've looked through everything I've got, and all my pictures are from England. Any chance you have anything in a tour book? I really don't want another FAC with no images! --Sarastro1 (talk) 12:31, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I've replied to the FAC. As for Yardley it doesn't work, as the Free Trade Agreement was backdated to January 1 1996, meaning that it had to be 50 years old in Australia, ie before 1/1/1946, which rules out Yardley. YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 04:48, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, good (!). And I've a nasty feeling this means all the Hutton photos in his article aren't PD either. So another article with no photos. :( --Sarastro1 (talk) 19:58, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well if they are in Aus, then probably not, although as we all know, there are tons of images of Australian people randomly tagged PD-Aus even though they were taken overseas and other stuff like that. FAC is the only place where rampant good-faith copyvio of images isn't prevalent, as well as teh usual mob who plunder CI and the like and say that they created the beautfiful photo at last week's Test etc YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 01:01, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question about searching for new articles

[edit]

Hi YM. Do you know of a way to display a list of recently created articles that have been placed in one of the cricket-related categories? No problem if you don't know of one. Thanks. By the way, I like those photos of the lady cricketers. Some of them are very nice indeed.  :-) ----Jack | talk page 14:03, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should vote then :) User:AlexNewArtBot/VietnamSearchResult etc can do a search for anything new that has cricket etc in it, so it can catch everything related, even if it was uncategorised by the author. YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 04:48, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
