[edit]Hello, I'm AP 499D25. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Jazz kissa, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. AP 499D25 (talk) 04:34, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I see that you have just gone and changed the numbers again without citing a source. Please don't do this again or I will block you, as it is disruptive. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 10:47, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm Japanese. It is estimated that the number of jazz kissa was the highest in the 1970s, but the number of 600 is clearly wrong. It is estimated that there were more than 1,000 in Japan. For example, in 1980, 770 shops were listed in the "Jazz Nihon Retto 1980 Edition" published by Jazz Hihyosha. And now, there are about 600 jazz kissas operating in Japan. Here is a list of jazz kissa that are currently open. In all, more than 600 of stores are listed.

- It is a well-known fact that the number of jazz kissas in Japan has been declining since the 1980s, but it is clearly contradictory to say that the 1970s had the highest number, with a total of 600. Zckza (talk) 10:56, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- Just changing the figures repeatedly without discussion isn't productive. The proper thing to do if you disagree with something that's appropriately sourced in the article is to discuss it on the article's talk page. If you think the existing sources are incorrect, explain why. If you have other sources that you think are more accurate, cite them and explain why they're better. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 11:12, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- When Jazz Kissa was at its peak, there were 600 stores, and the source is said to be in "Tokyo's jazz kissa survive". BBC Travel. The article does not show the source for the number of 600 stores. I've known jazz kissa for decades, but nowhere do I find a complete tally of the number of jazz kissa stores in Japan in the 1970s. However, among Japanese people who have known Jazz Kissa for a long time, it is speculated that there must have been more than 1,000 jazz kissa stores operating during the peak period, and there were probably around 1,500 stores. And it is said that the number of jazz kissa operating in Japan today is about half of what it was in its heyday. In any case, unfortunately, there is no document anywhere that accurately records the number of jazz kissas in the past. Zckza (talk) 11:17, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- Please take this discussion on the talk page of the article. I haven't worked on the article, I haven't read the sourcing, I have no specialist knowledge; I'm not the person to discuss this with. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 11:25, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- I showed you the current number of Jazz kissa in Japan. There are over 600 of them.
- Based on this data, it is clearly incorrect to say that "the number of jazz kissa was highest in the 1970s with 600 stores". If this is correct, please justify the numbers. Do you have data that the total number of jazz kissa stores in the 1970s was 600? Zckza (talk) 11:30, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- How to discuss? I don't know that, so I'll study it a little. In any case, is it okay to leave the unsourced figure of 600 stores as it is? Zckza (talk) 11:34, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- I told you, I'm not the person you need to be discussing this with. I haven't worked on the article. I happen to have it on my watchlist and I happened to see your change, is all.
- Go to the article's talk page and start a discussion there, please. The current figure is not unsourced. It's clearly cited to two references that appear to me to be reasonably reliable. You should leave it as-is and discuss on the article's talk page why you believe it is incorrect. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 11:37, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- I got it. Let's write on the talk page in the meantime. Then I hope you have a better understanding of the meaning of "source". It's authoritarian to say, "Because it's a BBC article, you can trust it." The number of shops written in that article has no basis at all and is sloppy. This is something that Japanese people who are studying jazz kissa can easily understand. Prove it wrong on the talk page. Zckza (talk) 12:04, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
