Vanessa Atterbeary is an American politician who represents District 13 in the Maryland House of Delegates.[1]

Background

Atterbeary was born on June 24, 1975, in Columbia, Maryland.[1] She graduated from Atholton High School,[2] also in Columbia and then went on to the College of William and Mary where she received her bachelor's degree in government in 1997.[1] That same year she went on to the Villanova University School of Law, and earned her juris doctorate three years later.[1] After law school, Atterbeary clerked for Judge David W. Young of the Baltimore City Circuit Court.[1] Atterbeary was admitted to Maryland Bar in 2001 and the District of Columbia Bar in 2002.[1] Her first job as an attorney was in 2002 for Bulman, Dunie, Burke & Feld, where she worked as General counsel for 5 years.[1]

In the legislature

Atterbeary serves on the House Judiciary committee.[1] In May 2016, Atterbeary was appointed to the Public Safety and Policing Work Group by the Speaker of the Maryland House.[1] She also serves on the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland and the Women's Caucus of Maryland.[1]
