Vazashen (Template:Lang-hy) is a town in the Tavush Province of Armenia. It is the site of ancient Xałxał (Template:Lang-hy), where Saint Vardan won his first military victory.[1] Until recently, it was known as Lala Geł (Template:Lang-hy), then Lali Gyuł (Template:Lang-hy).[2] The name of Vazashen was chosen to reflect the local vineyard production[3] (վազ/vaz 'grapevine' and շեն/shen 'village').
