Minnesota North College – Vermilion
Vermilion Community College is a two-year community college in Ely, Minnesota adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the Superior National Forest . Vermilion offers students several niche programs focusing on natural resources, natural sciences, and outdoor education. Founded in Liberal Arts, students can study a variety of programs and areas of interest.
Vermilion is also a residential college offering housing to nearly half of all attending students. This is coupled with a robust student life and resident life programming. Students experience varsity, intramural, and club level athletics and areas of interest.
Vermilion sits on over 80 acres of property on the outskirts of Ely, Minnesota. Students have access to hiking and biking trails, field labs, campsites, and traditional college amenities. Vermilion also runs an off-site Outdoor Learning Center for student use. This center has cabins, a classroom, forest area, a beach with docks, and is located on Fall Lake which servers as an entry point into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW).
