Vladislav Vladimirovich Kovalev (Russian: Владислав Владимирович Ковалёв; born 6 January 1994) is a Belarusian chess grandmaster. He was Belarusian Chess Champion in 2016.

Chess career

The winner of Belarusian Junior Chess Championships in different age groups, in which he won three times in the U20 age group (2009, 2011, 2012). Represented Belarus at the European Youth Chess Championship and World Youth Chess Championship, where won two medals: silver at the 2008 European Youth Chess Championship (U14) and bronze at the 2010 European Youth Chess Championship (U16).

Participating in the finals of the Belarusian Chess Championships, where twice won the medals: silver in 2013 and bronze in 2012[1].

In 2013, in Viljandi shared the first place in the Ilmar Raud memorial[2]. In 2017, he won the Latvia chess festival "Liepājas Rokāde" "Open" tournament.

  • In 2013, at third board in the 19th European Team Chess Championship in Warsaw (+2, =2, -4).

In 2012, he was awarded the FIDE International Master (IM) title and received the FIDE Grandmaster (GM) title the year later.

In February 2018, Kovalev competed in the Aeroflot Open. He finished first, half a point ahead of his nearest competitors,[5] with a score of 7/9 (+5–0=4).[6] He thus qualified for the 46th Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting in July, where he placed third with a score of 4/7 (+1–0=6).[7].
