Ward No. 20, Kolkata Municipal Corporation is an administrative division of Kolkata Municipal Corporation in Borough No. 2, covering parts of Shobhabazar and Ahiritola neighbourhoods in north Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal. It forms a city municipal corporation council electoral constituency and is a part of Shyampukur (Vidhan Sabha constituency).[1]

Overview

The boundaries of the ward are as follows: B.K.Pal Avenue, Ahiritola Street and its continuation up to Hooghly River bank is to the north. Rabindra Sarani is to the east. Nimtala Ghat Street and Port Trust Road leading to Nimtala Ghat are in the south. The Hooghly River is to the west.[2][3]

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Ward No. 20, Kolkata Municipal Corporation had a total population of 21,576, of which 12,180 (56%) were males and 9,396 (44%) were females. Population below 6 years was 1,629. The total number of literates in Ward No. 20 was 17,140 (85.93% of the population over 6 years).[4]
