West Medan, (Indonesian:Medan Barat) is one of 21 districts in the city of Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia.

Boundaries of the district (Indonesian: kecamatan):

In 2004, it had a population of 86.706 inhabitants. Total area is 6,82 km² and the population density is 12.713,49 inhabitants/km².

Residents

A large part of this district population is Chinese, Malay, Batak, Indian, Javanese and Minangkabau.
