Westown is a suburb of New Plymouth, in the western North Island of New Zealand. It is located to the southwest of the city centre and west of Frankleigh Park.
According to the 2013 New Zealand census, Westown has a population of 3,414, an increase of 15 people since the 2006 census.[1]
Taranaki Base Hospital lies between Westown and Lynmouth.
Education
Francis Douglas Memorial College is a boys' secondary (years 7-13) school with a roll of 730 students as of August 2024.[2][3] It is a state-integrated Catholic school, founded in 1959.[4]
Westown School is a coeducational contributing primary (years 1-6) school with a roll of 134 students as of August 2024.[2][5] The school celebrated its 75th jubilee in 2000.[6]
