Operator: Neo of ZW
Automatic or Manually assisted: Can run either way.
Programming language(s): Python.
Source code available: [1] provides a similar source, although mine offers a few more tasks.
Function overview: General maintenance/upkeep.
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate):
Edit period(s): Varying depending on task. When otherwise not in use, it will be run continuously to welcome new users every 15-60 minutes.
Estimated number of pages affected: Anywhere from 1 to 1000 depending on the task.
Exclusion compliant (Y/N): Yes
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): No
Function details: This bot has the ability to do almost anything you can imagine. It can move pages, categorize them, add or remove templates, welcome new users, revert bad edits, flag users with unacceptable usernames, fix broken links, fix unbracketed external links, remove links to deleted pages, change link targets, and possibly more, although I have not yet discovered the full functions of the bot. As I discover more functions, I will list them on the bot's userpage. As I said, this bot is a general maintenance/upkeep bot.
Discussion[edit]
- You've been blocked on zeldawiki and have a grand total of 13 edits here. How can we know you can be trusted operating a bot here? Josh Parris 10:20, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Blocked? What on earth are you talking about? I'm not blocked on there. I'm one of their most frequent editors with over 1,500 edits. I'm blocked on Zeldapedia but that's because of a mistake I made. I admit that. You need to check your facts a little better. Yeah, I don't have many edits here, because I'm usually working on Zelda Wiki, and if I'm not there, I'm programming.Neo of ZW (talk) 14:42, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Denied., although the author has withdrawn the task as well. Bot operators are expected to have experience in the community, and 35 edits so far just doesn't show that. Furthermore, we generally don't approve "general maintenance/upkeep" bots, but specific tasks instead. If you have an idea for a specific task, feel free to come back when you have more experience, and then the bot can be approved. Best. — The Earwig @ 16:29, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
