Ruth Merkis-Hunt (Poocat9)

Ruth Merkis-Hunt edited on English Wikipedia and joined in May 2008. She died of cancer on 30 January 2014, at the age of 49. She was a pilot and a flight instructor.[1]

Igor Kostenko

Although not active on the English Wikipedia as much as the Ukrainian Wiki, Igor contributed to the English Wiki with a few edits. On February 20th, Igor was killed during the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution while protesting.[2]

Damien Perrotin (Arskoul)

Damien Perrotin edited on English, Breton and French Wikipedia and joined in April 2006.[3]

Adrianne Wadewitz

Adrianne Wadewitz was an academic who contributed to literature and humanities topics on English Wikipedia. She was an advocate for the education program in Wikipedia and served as a liaison between Wikipedia and higher education.[4]

Cindy Ashley-Nelson (Cindamuse)

Cynthia Ashley-Nelson joined Wikipedia in March 2007 and contributed over 32,000 edits on the English Wikipedia alone, on topics as diverse as local history, arts and crafts, biographies, contemporary literature and non-profit organizations. She was an advocate of supporting new editors and was passionate about resolving Wikipedia's gender gap. She served on the Wikimedia Foundation's Grant Advisory Committee (GAC) and Affiliations Committee (AffCom), where she was elected Vice-Chair.

Alessio Guidetti (Cotton10)

Alessio Guidetti was a member of Wikimedia Italia and its Treasurer for five years, ending his role in 2014. Mainly working on the Italian Wikipedia, he started working in 2006 and became an administrator at the end of the year. He also worked to translate articles into Italian from English and was part of a small group of patrollers. Italian Wikipedia hosts his obituaries.

Alex Roshuk (Alex756)

Alex Roshuk started editing Wikipedia in 2003 and was an active contributor until early 2007. Alex played a key role in establishing the Wikimedia Foundation as a non-profit incorporated in Florida, providing legal advice and service pro-bono as a part of contributing to the movement. He left Wikimedia after disagreement with the direction of the Wikimedia Foundation and changes to its by-laws.

Christopher John Bennett (Chris Bennett)

Chris Bennett started editing Wikipedia in April 2005, mainly contributing in Egyptological, genealogical and calendrical topics, on which he also published scholarly works. In 2013 he retired from Wikipedia. He died of cancer on 10 January 2014.[5]

Salli Trandem (Wynthyst)

Salli Trandem (Wynthyst) was an active editor of various video game wikis and Wikipedia. She unexpectedly passed away from heart failure on May 14, 2014, at the age of 50 in her Minneapolis home.[6][7]
