The Empire State Library Network is hosting Wikipedia for Libraries with collections in New York Heritage, a casual Wikipedia talk for librarians and friends. Join presenter Lane Rasberry, Wikimedian in Residence at the University of Virginia, who will demonstrate libraries, archives, and universities use Wikipedia to make their research and resources more accessible. The talk includes an introduction to Wikipedia and examples of how libraries benefit from Wikipedia collaboration. For the first meetup, join to listen and chat about Wikipedia and libraries. For the second meetup, join to edit Wikipedia where the goal is to add at least one sentence and one citation to a Wikipedia article of your choice!
No prior Wikipedia experience required! Register a Wikipedia account if you plan to join the second event to edit!

Lane Rasberry is Wikimedian-in-residence at the School of Data Science at the University of Virginia. His interests include popular science, consumer protection, civic engagement, access to health information, clinical research, the Open Movement, data science, LGBT history, and Wikimedia projects.
