Librarians @ Pratt, Part 2: A Wikipedia Edit-a-thon will take place at Pratt Institute's Manhattan campus on Saturday, April 18, 2015, from 1:00-6:00PM. The focus of this event is to create and edit pages about Pratt alumni, faculty, and staff who’ve made a significant contribution to the field of Library and Information Science, especially those involved in the Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science programs. This event is a continuation for the Librarians @ Pratt Edit-a-thon that took place November 1, 2014.


  • Hosts: Pratt SILS Student Association (SILSSA)
  • Date: Saturday, April 18, 2015
  • Time: 1-6pm: Instruction from 1 - 2, Drop-in editing thereafter until 6
  • Location: Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science (6th Floor, Room 609)
  • Address: 144 West 14th St, New York, NY 10011
  • Cost: Free
  • What to Bring: Participants should bring laptops and ideas. There will be desktop computers available but only accessible by current Pratt students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participants: Open to Pratt Institute students, faculty, staff, and alumni; plus invited guests.

In-Person Attendees[edit]


During this event, attendees participated in a presentation that covered the basics of editing and using Wiki mark-up, with a focus on creating biographical pages. Additionally, there was discussion of editing as an educational tool, and citation formatting practices. Open editing followed, during which time participants edited and created biographical pages for librarians with a connection to Pratt Institute.
