Snapchat filters are actually lenses

[edit]

I can't link to the magazine article but when I saw the description of a Snapchat "lens", that's what I was asking about here.

And while the Snapchat article has a section on lenses I'm not sure it communicates what those are. A photo would be helpful.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:16, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As I explained last time you asked. Snapchat has both filters and lenses. They are different things in Snapchat although Snapchat lenses are often called filters colloquially, but this doesn't eliminate the existence of filters. So "Snapchat filters are actually lenses" makes no sense. If you are trying to say you actually meant Snapchat lenses you asked about Snapchat filters, it would help to be clearer what you are trying to say. As for a photo of modified by Snapchat lenses well the section is short enough that I'm not convince it's really needed. However you're welcome to contribute a suitable licenced photo and see if people feel it's useful. Nil Einne (talk) 15:50, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll admit, since there can be different types of filters, I should have said something else. Maybe "These Snapchat filters are actually lenses."
I wouldn't know how to find or contribute an appropriate photo. I'm pretty sure I've heard people using the term "Snapchat filter" when they mean "lens". I don't know where to provide the proof of what I'm saying.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:48, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have to point out that none of those things would be called a "lens" if Snapchat didn't give them that moniker. 93.142.75.127 (talk) 19:18, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still very confused what you're trying to say. As I explained officially Snapchat filters and Snapchat lenses are different things. So officially Snapchat filters are never actually lenses and Snapchat lenses are Snapchat lenses. Snapchat filters are Snapchat filters. So officially there are no Snapchat filters which are actually Snapchat lenses. Colloquially Snapchat lenses may sometimes be called filters. From what I can tell, no one has ever disputed this. We all know Snapchat lenses are sometimes called filters. (As the IP mentioned, I don't think actual Snapchat filters are ever called lenses.) So what is it you are trying to say?
