How can I fix my Android navigation bar color?

[edit]

So I have an old(er) Android tablet (8.0 or thereabouts) and when I have Chrome open, the navigation bar at the bottom is black, which I prefer. When I open an Incognito tab, the bar changes to white. Understandable. BUT, when I close all Incognito tabs and go back to normal mode, the navigation bar stays white. Any way to make it black again? (Other than just closing an reopening Chrome.)

I also have a new Android tablet, and on that one, with Chrome open, the navigation bar is ALWAYS white.

Any solution to either problem? (Not that it's a "problem" per se, it just seems like it should be easy to customize, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.) TheRiseOfSkittlez (talk) 10:58, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If your newer Android tablet is running Android 10 or higher, then you should be able to enable a system-wide dark theme in the settings app. (If I recall correctly, it's somewhere in the "Display" section of your settings) This will make the navigation bar black. I'm not sure about your older tablet though. For me, Chrome has a "themes" section in the browser settings, I don't know if that's also on older versions of Android. If you're willing to get a bit technical rooting your tablet should allow you to install a custom ROM, something like LineageOS will give you much more control over customization. Update: The newer of the two tablets was kind enough to perform an update on itself while I was sleeping, and now the bar is black all the time. But I may try rooting the older one, since, well, it's the older one. Thanks! TheRiseOfSkittlez (talk) 02:40, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This sounds like it's a Chrome thing, though I could be wrong. You could always try other browsers and see whether they're more to your liking. Other browsers might let you customize the user interface more. --47.155.96.47 (talk) 05:45, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
