Richard Bennett, Canadian Prime Minister, his manners and temperament[edit]

In Foot, Dingle (1976). "1931". British Political Crises. London: William Kimber. p. 143. ISBN 0718301943. we read that Richard Bennett "has been described as 'being possessed of the manners of a Chicago policeman and the temperament of a Hollywood film star'." Looking for that quote in Newspapers.com (pay site), the first thing I found was an Aug 28, 2010 item in the Ottawa Citizen that author John Boyko quoted that statement in a book called Bennett: The Rebel Who Challenged and Changed a Nation. Going back further, a Nov 21, 1959 item in the Citizen reviews another book, Friends, by Lord Beaverbrook (Max Aitken). The same quote appears in the book, uncredited, but the reviewer says it was from Chubby Powers. ←Baseball Bugs ^{What's up, Doc?} carrots→ 03:03, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
