November 5[edit]

Missing comic?[edit]

In the Foxtrot collection Welcome to Jasorassic Park (published 1998, ISBN 0-8362-5183-0) on page 17, there seems to be a missing daily comic in the middle of the page. Why was it removed? 67.239.109.183 (talk) 19:02, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You could try asking at [1]. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 19:28, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you could try this website[2] to see if you can find the missing entry, for whatever date it was. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 19:34, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
According to this site, "[T]he strip originally published on April 1, 1997... is not reprinted here (or in Camp FoxTrot). In its place, only the top-left corner of the first panel can be seen, while a pair of Quincyraptors from the above-mentioned Jurassic Park parody run off, the implication [being] that they have eaten the strip." Tevildo (talk) 19:56, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This[3] is the April 1, 1997, comic. For those too young to remember, the girl in the rightmost panel is "Nancy". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 20:16, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't Nancy still going? —Tamfang (talk) 03:07, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Here's today's entry.[4] Simple, nothing heavy. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:42, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Any idea why this particular strip was left out of the book? 67.239.109.183 (talk) 20:48, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

According to Tevildo's link, it was not drawn by the strip's normal author, but by the author of "Nancy" as an April Fool's joke. That could account for why it was not in the book. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:16, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Could"?--WaltCip (talk) 23:03, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The only way to know for sure is to contact the author. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:07, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We actually have an article, Comic strip switcheroo, which talks about the April 1, 1997, joke by various cartoonists. It doesn't answer the OP's question, though. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:11, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There was a period when web cartoonists commonly swapped on April 1; but we were younger then. Hm, when was the last time? —Tamfang (talk) 03:07, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I also think it happened more than once, but that could be a false memory. Googling the subject seems to print to 1997. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:45, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
