Construction Client side engineer role[edit]

Are client side engineers an integral part of a construction project team? Is it an essential role if they have a PM with an engineering background? Clover345 (talk) 20:48, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It depends how big your project is. The client may need an engineer to specify what they want, or to evaluate offerings from contractors. But smaller outfits will not have employed an engineer. A project manager is a general purpose role that can manage any type of project, not just construction projects. However if they are also an engineer they can probably tell when the suppliers or contractors are lying, and may be able to ask more realistic or pertinent questions. Yolk: Protoplasm or deutoplasm?[edit]

The article Yolk says:

The yolk is not living cell material like protoplasm, but largely passive material, that is to say deutoplasm.

But then the article Deutoplasm says:

Deutoplasm refers to the food particles stored in the cytoplasm of an ovum or a cell, as distinguished from protoplasm, the yolk substance.

These seem to be saying opposite things. Which is correct? —Bkell (talk) 21:08, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely contradiction. My guess is that "as distinguished from protoplasm, the yolk substance" is erroneous, but we'll better wait to see some hard evidence אילן שמעוני (talk) 01:47, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This is where deficient (or non-existent) sourcing comes back to haunt us. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 02:35, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The deutoplasm article is using a 1911 source. By 1924 Brambell had pointed out that the yolk is derived from a variety of organelles and that it should probably not be considered deutoplasm. The Wikipedia article needs to be updated (lol) to 1924. Heaviside glow (talk) 22:30, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
