Parameters that can be used
[edit]Parameters in bold are ones that should be used in almost all district infoboxes. Use {{Infobox settlement}} on the district pages, see documentation here.
Footnotes indicate where information about a subject can be found.
Name and Image
[edit]- Name- Fill in with the article name
- native_name and native_name_lang- if they can be found. Use the IS0 639-2 language code, which can be found here: https://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php
- settlement_type- Fill in with a wikilink saying District while linking to Districts of Afghanistan (
[[Districts of Afghanistan|District]]
) - image_skyline- Try to find a good image of something in the district (which may not be possible), while following the WP:IUP.
- image_caption- Captioning of the above image, if image_skyline is used.
- image_alt- Alternate image text, if image_skyline is used
- etymology- if available
- image_map- Create an SVG from data at
https://data.humdata.org/dataset/afg-admin-boundaries, showing the district's location within a province (see image to the right). User:Danre98 is available if you don't want to make one yourself (see 2nd image to the right). NOTE: The link above does not work. Email Danre98 at danre98.wikimedia@gmail.com to obtain the shapefiles. - map_alt- Alt text of the map
- map_caption- a caption saying something like "Location of Foo in Bar Province" where Foo is the district name and Bar is the province name
- coordinates- Coordinates of the district
- coor_pinpoint- Name of the place with the coordinate. For example, "the district center" is one possible input.
- coordinates_footnotes- if footnotes are available
Government
[edit]- subdivision_title- put "Country"
- subdivision_name- put the template
{{flag|Afghanistan}}
- subdivision_title1- put "Province" and wikilink to Provinces of Afghanistan (
[[Provinces of Afghanistan|Province]]
) - subdivision_name1- put the name of whatever province it is located in.
- established_title and established_date- depends on what information is available. If the profile[1] or the DDP[2] lists a date that it started functioning in, use that. Otherwise, if it is part of the 325/399 district sets,[3] use "Mapped" and either 1973 or 2005 depending on the set. If it is not in the 399 set, then it is a "temporary district". Try to find when it was decreed, and use that.
- seat_type- put "District center"
- seat- put the name of the district center
- government_footnotes- a place for displaying footnotes of govt leaders
- leader_title and leader_name, thru leader_title2 and leader_name2- Most districts have a district governor, a police chief, and a Taliban shadow governor. Use these parameters to add them to the infobox.
Everything else
[edit]- area_total_km2- Check various sources ([1][2][4][5]) to find the area.
- area_footnotes- Reference where the area is from.
- elevation_m- use if the elevation can be found in a source
- elevation_footnotes- footnote for the above
- population_footnotes- Cite this web page by the NSIA, or another, more recent, web page on population
- population_as_of- if using the source listed above, put 2019. Otherwise, put when the source was published.
- population_total- put the total population as listed in the source referenced above or another source that was chosen
- population_density_km2- put "auto" and this will be computed from the area and the population
- population_urban- list the district's urban population as in the source
- population_rural- list the district's rural population as in the source
- demographics- use this section and its parameters for listing ethnicity in the district profile, if it exists.[1]
