I submitted an update the the USA 2nd Amendment article and it was reverted by Wikiiawesome for no explanation. Could you explain why? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ai6pg/sandbox --Ai6pg (talk) 21:55, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It was declined by User:Wikiisawesome for the reasons that he provided. In short, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and it is not the role of an encyclopedia to tell the reader that particular rights are "provided by God" or "Uniquely American". [edit]

Hi there, My name is Adrian Kraus and I wrote the article Generator Hostels on wikipedia. As you may realize, it is the second time I've got it "not accepted", and I was wondering if you could share with me some further detail for this? Thank you

Adrian Kraus (talk) 09:03, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's not really clear what further details you need. The Draft is currently written exactly like an advertisement. Wikipedia is not an advertising brochure, it is an encyclopedia. The company should write about "a new concept in hospitality for discerning travellers" on its own website... such breathless promotionalism has no place here. I have created company's information only for the persons who want to know more about the company "WorldWide Immigration Consultancy Services Private Limited". It is group of companies which recruits lots of employees in their different companies. It will help for the customers also to know about the company and its services.

So please let me know the updates required to get it approved in Wikipedia.

Mranujkaushal (talk) 09:08, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mranujkaushal: Once you have dealt with the copyright issue mentioned on the draft page, the next step is to clean up some of the text so it is less promotional in tone. Avoid buzzwords and buzzphrases like "WWICS pioneered the concept of immigration to Canada". (Also, people were immigrating to Canada long before WWICS came onto the scene, so claiming that they "pioneered" immigration to Canada is factually suspect.) I also don't think it's worth listing every single member of the board of directors directory-style with a biography blurb. You may want to use a Good Article like Japan Airlines to help you as you work on formatting, language and style. /wia /talk 00:35, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Indian_Sign_Language&redirect=no I have submitted the article in Wikipedia on “Indian Sign Language” about one month ago. The article has been declined on the ground of its earlier existence in Wikipedia under the title “Indo-Pak Sign language”. Indo-Pak Sign Language in itself is not a sign language but a term given by Ulrike Zeshan (2000) while studying the sign language varieties in the two cities i.e. Karachi and New Delhi. The findings of the study indicate that the sign language varieties are same in two cities across the border. However, the existence of Indian Sign Language (ISL) and Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) cannot be denied on the ground of terminology given to the sign language varieties used by the Deaf people in both the countries. Both sign languages have their own history and the journey of its development. The Indian Sign Language is the symbol of existence of Indian Deaf communities and their struggle for the recognition of their mother tongue which is ISL. The Deaf communities in India have started taking strides to raise their voices for their rights including the official recognition of ISL. It is the beginning of revolution initiated by the Deaf Leaders and Deaf communities of India for the recognition of their native language which is ISL. So, it becomes very necessary to start with the new page under the title “Indian Sign Language” to create the awareness about ISL and to contribute Deaf Communities of India in their struggle for recognition of ISL. Kindly, request you to allow me to start a new page under the title “Indian Sign Language” to disseminate the issues and concerns as well as the historical development of Indian Sign Language. However, I am open to edit the article wherever needed as per your suggestions.

i submitted a paper on Mummification in ancient Egypt and for some reason it was rejected. i was wondering what the reason was for its rejection. Was there a similar title? or was there a problem with the paper itself? Alyshaheen (talk) 13:34, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the topic is already covered in Ancient Egyptian burial customs, which would be the best place to improve it. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 13:43, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

I need help understanding why my draft is not approved ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Pierre_Badel_%28Trumpet%29 It says that the references don't show enough the notability of the musician. But if you look for example at this wikipedia page about a musician (trumpet player as well) Allen Vizzutti (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Vizzutti) I don't see any references that shows his notability but it is approved! So help me understand! Thank you very Much! my user name: 82.235.27.249 (talk) 15:30, 18 May 2015 (UTC)Sob23[reply]

82.235.27.249 (talk) 15:30, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@82.235.27.249: Wikipedia is monitored by volunteers, so some bad articles tend to slip through the cracks. If we let these bad articles be the standard by which all future articles are judged, the quality of articles would quickly decline. Therefore, the "What about this other article?" argument doesn't carry much weight here. Instead, try comparing your article to articles which have been ranked as Good musician articles or Featured musician articles. --Ahecht (TALK

[edit]

I need help adding art work to a biography. I did try reading through some help files on adding jpg and permissions, but have't been able to sort out the proper methodology. I think a more experienced editor would be able to better handle the issue.

Under "Roberto Esteban Chavez" I want to add an image of his work from the Smithsonian Collection. (http://americanart.si.edu/collections/search/artwork/?id=85555). The museum purchased the painting and used it for an exhibit catalog but I'm not sure where the copyright issue relates to a living artist in a museum collection. I also noticed the Smithsonian has an arrangement with Wikipedia/Wiki Commons, but don't want to upload an image unless that is permissible. Thank you.

MsMalaprop (talk) 19:55, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@MsMalaprop: The issue is that the painting still appears to be under Roberto Chavez's copyright (indicating that the copyright was renewed at some point) according the Smithsonian page. You could make a fair-use claim for posting that image if the painting itself were the subject of sourced critical commentary in the article, but simply showing the image as an example of the artist's work wouldn't qualify. --Ahecht (TALK

23:19:22, 18 May 2015 review of submission by 66.167.215.186

[edit]

Attempted to change the tone of the entire article; took out most anything that could be considered advocating for SonoSim; all of the statements are and have been backed up with multiple 3rd party references; not sure what else I can since everything is cited... If it gets rejected again, please give specifics on what I can do. Thanks.

66.167.215.186 (talk) 23:19, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have trimmed it a little more, the tone is fine now... not promotional... and I have left a comment at the top of the Draft to say so. I will leave it for another reviewer to make a final assessment regarding notability. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:31, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
