Request on 14:53:34, 11 April 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by Naskgetty

[edit]

Hello, Can someone help with my article? It is stated that is needs to be more notable, but I have referenced sources from the New York Times, Huffington Post, the Newyorker, Sports Illustrated, Rapid City Journal, to name a few.

Hello,

My submission was declined because of resources. I am confused, I got the resources on line from magazine/video interview links, I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I put the name of the place where the article was found example: Jamaican Star, then I put the link to the article, but for some reason they claim my reference might be wrong... I don't get it. Please help!

Hello, Jasmin. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. I see that you have already asked for feedback from the reviewer who declined your draft, and I expect you will get a response from them in the near future. I also see that you added some more references to your draft after posting your question here. Those new references are a good start, but you still have a lot more work to do. Your submission doesn't follow our usual layout for biographical articles. Also, it is not acceptable to simply throw your references at the bottom of the article without telling the reader which reference is being used to support which statements in the article. I suggest that you work through our WP:Tutorial, which will introduce you to the techniques needed to craft an acceptable article. I hope this response has been helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. NewYorkActuary (talk) 19:48, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would welcome some assistance with the issues raised with the submission below

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Green_Star_Media_Ltd

The references include an independent profile of the company (I have disclosed COI on my user page) however this has been dismissed as an advertising profile (implication that it was paid for - it was not), and an instruction to provide references from "major independent news publications" There's no way that the BBC or the Times is ever going to write about what we get up to, yet we are regularly covered in InPublishing the publishing trade magazine and website, so we are notable within our industry. I thought the guidelines were to prove notability not popularity. There's no way we can influence the coverage of the trade magazine but the references are given little value by the reviewer as we are somehow regarding as influencing them. I'm getting different messages about the interpretation of the guidelines in this area.

Reply - Unfortunately you can't scoot around the citation rules and norms of the site because the industry you are in may not be the subject of national press on a regular basis. While it is dubious to assume you have control over the publications that write about you, on that I agree, this would not be an issue if more significant sources had written about the company--which is the main point. At this point, I don't see the in-depth, significant coverage required for an article to pass through AFC being used here. And those are indeed needed to assert the notability of Green Star Media.
