This page has guidance on adding and removing articles from the scope of WP:LGBT.

How to add and remove articles[edit]

Adding[edit]

  • Articles that deal with LGBT topics can be tagged as in scope by adding the WP:LGBT project banner to the talk page.
  • The report New articles containing LGBT keywords displays recently created articles containing "LGBT", "lesbian", "gay", "bisexual", "transgender", or related terms. These articles may be reviewed to determine whether they should be tagged as in scope.
  • Articles added to the project's scope can be reviewed at WP:LGBT/Quality. Newly added articles will be listed under the "Assessed" heading. Note this will also include some moved articles previously tagged as in scope.

Removing[edit]

  • If an article has been tagged as in scope but does not deal with LGBT topics, it can be removed by deleting the WP:LGBT project banner from the talk page.
  • Articles removed from the project's scope can be reviewed at WP:LGBT/Quality, under the "Removed" heading.

Effects of adding an article[edit]

  • The primary benefit of having an article in WP:LGBT's scope is that it is automatically included in the automatic reports generated for the wikiproject, mainly:
    • WP:LGBT/Alerts, which includes proposed deletions, moves, requests for comment, reviews for good and featured articles, and more.
    • WP:LGBT/Quality, which lists changes in the quality assessment of articles.
    • WP:LGBT/Showcase, which highlights recognized content within the scope of WP:LGBT.
  • Consequently, the primary cost of overcategorization, by marking articles with little or no LGBT-related content as in-scope, is that the above reports become too large, and the articles with more substantial LGBT-related content become lost in the mix.

Defining WP:LGBT's scope[edit]

If you are unsure whether an article should be added to the project, raise it for discussion at WT:LGBT. WikiProjects define their own scopes (WP:PROJSCOPE), so whether a project should be added or not is based on the consensus of active members rather than any detailed criteria.
