1983 Atlantic hurricane season[edit]

Assessment would be useful. I think this is ready for FA-status. Also some words on its two sub-articles.Mitchazenia 22:06, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree that it's ready for FA-status. Overall wording is poor to adequate, at best. Sourcing isn't that good. The first source, for example, is a poor source that indicates the season was the least active in 53 years. Furthermore, it could use more reliable sources in general; much of the article relies on newspaper sources, which isn't too good of an idea. The lede could be better, as could the seasonal activity. This sentence I find particularly troubling; The wind shear was contributed by a variety of factors including an El Niño and a slow phase in a cycle of Atlantic hurricane favorability. Neither of the two cause higher amounts of wind shear. Non-breaking spaces are needed. Another big problem is the redundancy of information. It is mentioned three times in the article that Barry caused damage, and another time in its sub-article, yet the storm didn't really cause much damage. A lot of the article focuses on the storms' rainfall, which isn't a good idea. The rainfall wasn't that important of an aspect of the cyclones, so a quick sentence summary would be better. Units need consistency (should be imperial unit with metric unit in parenthesis). Overall, it needs more work. Hurricanehink (talk) 17:28, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
