This common multi-section course "Introduces critical writing and information literacy skills. Focuses on analyzing and evaluating texts, constructing cogent arguments and using sources effectively. Builds on analytic thinking, argument, critical reading skills and an academic style developed in Academic Writing I. Introduces the argument/persuasion essay, evaluation essay and short research essay."
Taking into consideration their interests and/or majors, students will identify an article (or articles that fall under the same theme/topic) that need(s) improvement and will accordingly work on editing and adding content. They will be required to use a minimum of 3 sources. This will later lead to an analytical assignment that requires them to build an argument related to the topic of the article(s) they selected, integrating additional sources, and a reflective assignment.
