FAQ Namespace

[edit]

Where would one petition to have a FAQ namespace added? There are many articles where discussions are endlessly repeated, and calls for merges, deletions, or era changes, etc are repeated by newcomers. A few of the Talk pages I've seen recently have mentioned the desire to have a FAQ page where results of major-change discussions, or results of discussions of questions frequently asked can be placed for easy reference without having to rehash a long discussion all over again on the Talk page. Is there a place at WP where a request for a new namespace could be placed? Many thanks. — al-Shimoni (talk) 07:51, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request for comment: Page move nomination

[edit]

Due to the fact that this page is a how to guide, It should be moved to Help:Namespaces with a redirect. -- PythonSwarm Talk | Contribs | Global 01:10, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Opposed really only seeing infomation here rather then how to do something.--Moxy 🍁 03:04, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose (Called forth by bot) This is not a help page, it does fine in the Wikipedia namespace. We try to keep only the most relevant things in the help namespace so that our experienced hands can easily find things by searching something like "WP:NAMESPACE". I wouldn't think to search "Help:Namespace", because help pages are not really built for our experienced hands, and I don't think this page is meant as a starter guide. • opposed This page is more than a help page. It fits this namespace well. —¿philoserf? (talk) 22:48, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This page is more about the guidelines we have established for the use of namespaces on Wikipedia, than about how namespaces work within our software. --Bsherr (talk) 04:02, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, this is almost entirely a help page, and I believe these should ideally placed in the Help namespace. Almost all of it is about the technical aspects of namespaces, and there is very little policy discussion or commentary. ----Jules (Mrjulesd) 20:59, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please change the Wikimedia Outreach reference: from [https://outreach.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/News/January_2018/Education_Extension_scheduled_shutdown Education_Extension_scheduled_shutdown, Wikimedia outreach] to [https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/News/January_2018/Education_Extension_scheduled_shutdown "Education Extension scheduled shutdown"], Wikimedia Outreach; this removes the mobile site prefix that isn't optimised for desktop usage (and if browsing on a mobile, it should be automatically changed anyway), and it also doesn't display underscores in the link. 83.28.217.24 (talk) 09:22, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It would be better to use [[outreach:Education/News/January 2018/Education Extension scheduled shutdown|Education Extension scheduled shutdown]] which yields Education Extension scheduled shutdown. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 16:49, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
