Salford?

[edit]

Since when is the People's History Museum (not "Salford People's History Museum") in Salford? It's in Spinningfields—squarely on the Manchester side of the Irwell—and always has been. (Doug, you should know this, given that we were sitting in the Ralph Abercrombie about two minutes walk from it when I suggested that a WMUK-PHM collaboration might be a good fit.) ‑ Iridescent 20:34, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Iridescent, I'm working under the impression that the venue is Working Class Movement Library, 51 Crescent, Salford, M5 4WX. I'm pretty certain it's not the People's History Museum in Manchester. Although the eventbrite page is confusing: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/voting-for-change-edit-a-thon-tickets-25968895666 because the PHM is one of the organisers, I think. Tomorrow I'll check for sure and sort out the directions on this page. Thanks for the heads-up, as I'd hate for folks to end up at the wrong place. --RexxS (talk) 01:40, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The photo is definitely the PHM in Manchester (the "Salford" in the title is because the photographer is standing at New Bailey in Salford facing south across the river), so anyone reading this is going to reasonably assume that that's the venue. ‑ Iridescent 06:59, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Iridescent: You are absolutely correct on all counts; the People's History Museum is indeed on the Manchester side of the Irwell, and it was the original place of the workshop, however it has since been moved to the Working Class Movement Library in Salford, just across the road from the University of Salford's Peel Park campus. The PHM are still one of the organisers, which I think might have caused the confusion. In any case, I have fixed the page title and corrected the place of the workshop in the text, I hope it makes everything a bit clearer. odder (talk) 09:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
