Conclusion

[edit]

The straw poll and the discussion seem to have played out. The straw poll shows 44 votes for a standard of sorts, against 4 votes opposing a standard. Of the three proposals on offer for a standard, "American X" gained 31 votes, "United States X" gained 12 votes, (Radiant's withdrawn), and "of the United States" gained 2 votes. That gives "American X" a near 69% share of the vote of all those expressing preference for a standard. Is it fair to assume a consensus on the position of "American X"? I have removed the listing for this poll from Wikipedia:Current surveys#Polls as it has been >21 days and the matter seems to be (at least temporarily) closed. Courtland 16:26, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is fair to assume a consensus and to promote this to a guideline or incorporate in the MoS.
By the way, I haven't voted, and a massive related thread has developed on the MoS talk page. Should we reopen the poll? Else accepting the verdict seems the only logical solution to me. PizzaMargherita 20:06, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
