Did You Know

[edit]

BOLD revert discuss. I was bold, you reverted, so here I am... I think there's merit in tracking every DYK because I want this project to get a rep that whatever we nominate makes it. (I personally am batting 1000 on self authored DYK noms...) So I think there is merit in tracking WHY Capitol Mumble didn't get selected... Discuss. ++Lar: t/c 20:45, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DYK is a big thing of yours, I personally don't think it's a very big deal :) In fact, the only time I visit the front page is if I click on the Wikipedia icon by accident. That - different perspectives - is probably the root of the problem! So, let's see what others say. I might be wrong on this, but I felt we only need to log successes, with the exception of AFD because if we nomiminate an article for AFD and it gets kept we're snookered. Anyway, let's see what Mal or random others think :) --kingboyk 21:22, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Other new articles

[edit]

I thought it wouldn't be fair to claim this as a "new article" for the project, since it wasn't AFAIK created by a project member, and the Beatles involvement is peripheral. So, I'll record it here instead:

What are we going to do about new articles which were on our to-do list and which have turned blue thanks to editors not on the participants list? Do we consider those editors "honorary members" and list the articles regardless? :-) The latest example is: Liverpool College of Art. --kingboyk 23:19, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List them. Then make up a big showy thank you box to leave on the editor's talk page... something like the current "hey I saw you around" invite box but with text thanking them... ++Lar: t/c 23:55, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't necessarily be appropriate to leave the invite in these 2 cases, as one is a cajun band who released a sole single on Apple and the other is a school :-) --kingboyk 00:50, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, a box that thanks but doesn't invite? ++Lar: t/c 01:21, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so. I think there's a strong chance they're not "Beatle people" nor that they found the article on our todo list; and if they did find it on the todo list they already know about the project! :-) --kingboyk 11:43, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK (from beautiful Breezewood, Pennsylvania).. then I guess I'm not sure what you're asking when you say "what are we going to do about... ?"... Can you clarify what you're asking about? Thanks! ++Lar: t/c 00:22, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just whether or not to log them as new project-created articles or not - but I've already done it :-) Have a great holiday! --kingboyk 01:16, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, ok. Well... I think the way you logged them is just fine, then. They're articles, they are noted to have come into existance, (we're presumably therefore happy about it!) but we're not taking credit for them where it's not due. Spot on. ++Lar: t/c 01:59, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
