Requested move template only has one argument[edit]

There is no second 'why' argument for Template:Requested move. Maybe there should be but currently it does not. I'm not sure how to fix the article so it shows how to add a 'why' statement since it uses {{tlsetl}} to provide links/talk/view. 22:10, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing this out. I fixed it to reflect the current usage of this template. – Wbm1058 (talk) 18:53, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Template:Requested move now supports a second, unnamed parameter (argument) for the reason why. The template syntax is now identical with {{subst:RMtalk}}, except that the former still requires editors to sign, while the latter is auto-signed. Auto-signing is one of the benefits of substituting templates, as transcluded templates cannot automatically sign themselves. – Wbm1058 (talk) 16:43, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Template for tagging target page[edit]

When it is proposed that page A be moved to an existing page B, which means B will be deleted, shouldn't B be tagged as well ("It has been proposed that this page be deleted and replaced by Other page"), with a link to the discussion?  --Lambiam 01:59, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Generally moves should not be made to existing pages with content. Existing pages are often simply redirects or disambiguation pages. It may make sense to post a message on disambiguation talk pages, but I doubt notices posted to redirect talkspace would get noticed. If existing page B has content, then a WP:MERGE should be considered. Wbm1058 (talk) 21:21, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is also a good reason not to post to talk pages of redirects, it makes it impossible for ordinary users to move the talk page of the article along with the article if the article is moved to a redirect. -- PBS (talk) 11:34, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate title-soft[edit]

I've created this Template:Inappropriate title-soft - it removes the exclamation point from Inappropriate title - there are some articles that get tagged without any major content disputes, and the exclamation point wrongly gives readers the impression that there are major content disputes.

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --2001:4898:80E8:0:4F7:67CB:CAE3:3B22 (talk) 06:20, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Transcluding article[edit]

What is meant by "This article" is a section of the Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup article as it existed back in 2012; when there was a section named Moving. Linking to today's article (renamed Template index) makes little sense, since the user is sent to a non-existing section.

Therefore I've rewritten the note to send the user back in time to where there is a relevant target.

However, I could not get the {{oldid2}} template to work within the {{tmbox}} used, so the formatting is currently simplified. You are welcome to fix this if you know how. Cheers CapnZapp (talk) 11:46, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
