Wind River is a thriller directed and written by Taylor Sheridan in his directing debut. It stars Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Jon Bernthal and Kelsey Asbille.

It premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.[3]

Premise

U.S. Fish & Wildlife agent Cory Lambert (Renner) discovers a body in the rugged wilderness of the Wind River Indian Reservation. The FBI sends in rookie agent Jane Banner (Olsen), but she's unprepared for the difficulties created by the oppressive weather and isolation of the Wyoming winter. When she employs Cory as a tracker, the two venture deep into a world ravaged by violence and the elements.

Cast

Production

In May 2015, it was announced Chris Pine and Elizabeth Olsen had joined the cast of the film, with Taylor Sheridan directing the film from a screenplay he wrote.[4][5] By January 2016, Pine dropped out of the film, and was replaced with Jeremy Renner.[6] The project began filming on March 31, 2016 in Park City, Utah, with Jon Bernthal, Graham Greene, Julia Jones and Gil Birmingham added to the cast.[7] Kelsey Asbille joined the cast on April 26, 2016.[8] Nick Cave and Warren Ellis composed the film's score.[9]

Release

The Weinstein Company acquired the distribution rights on May 13, 2016 during the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.[10] In January 2017, it was announced the company would no longer distribute the film.[11] However, the distribution deal finalized.[12]
