The Wyoming Valley West School District is a public school district in the Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania. It consists of the Wyoming Valley West Senior High School, the Wyoming Valley West Middle School, and seven elementary schools: Chester Street, Dana Street, Pringle, State Street, Schuyler Avenue, Third Avenue, and Main Street. Wyoming Valley West consists of nine boroughs: Courtdale, Edwardsville, Forty Fort, Larksville, Luzerne, Plymouth, Pringle, Kingston, and Swoyersville. The school colors are burgundy and gold. A Spartan is the school's mascot. Dr. Michael Garzella currently serves as the school district's superintendent. Currently due to last spring's discussions at board meetings, there is a structured code policy, forbidding students to wear cargo pants, jeans, and shirts without a collar. Students also had an opportunity to attend West Side Career and Technology Center. The district demanded more representation on the joint operating board. The district failed to receive what they wanted. So, the WVW district is no longer with West Side Career and Technology Center. Now they pay tuition for your child to attend if he/she wants to.

High School

The Wyoming Valley West High School currently has a teaching staff of about 80 faculty and staff and 1482 students. The current principal is Mr. David Tosh. Some Advanced Placement courses are offered for seniors and juniors such as AP biology, chemistry, physics, English, history, and calculus. These courses can be taken for college credit. 353 students graduated in 2007. The high school has its own newspaper The West Side Story which is a free publication available to students, faculty, and staff, and is available online. Student teacher ratio is 17.6. The high school recently scored slightly below the state average for the PSSA test which is a state standardized test given to all public school students.

Middle School

The Wyoming Valley West Middle School, formerly the Kingston High School, is located in Kingston and holds approximately 1400 students.
