Youssoufia is a town in Youssoufia Province, Marrakesh-Safi, Morocco. According to the 2004 census it has a population of 64,518. and it is known for its high production of phosphate, an inorganic chemical salt of phosphoric acid. [1]
The city was founded in 1931 by the French when they began to exploit the phosphate mine of the Gantour basin. It was then named after a French schoolteacher Louis Gentil.
