Zheng Qinwen (Chinese: 郑钦文; born 8 October 2002) is a Chinese tennis player.[1] She reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 108 on 17 January 2022.

Professional career

2021: WTA debut

In January 2021, she won the Tennis Future Hamburg, where she defeated Linda Fruhvirtova 6–2, 6–3 in the final of the ITF Circuit $25k event, held at the venue of the Hamburger Tennis-Verband.[2]

On 20 June 2021, she won the final of the $60k event Macha Lake Open in Staré Splavy, defeating Aleksandra Krunić in two sets.[3]

Zheng made her WTA Tour debut at the 2021 Palermo, where she also recorded her first win after defeating second seed Liudmila Samsonova in the first round.[4]

2022: Grand Slam debut, first WTA semifinal

At the 2022 Melbourne Summer Set 1, she reached her first WTA semifinal after beating Mai Hontama, former No. 2 Vera Zvonareva, and Ana Konjuh respectively.[5] She lost in straight sets to second seed Simona Halep in the semifinals.[6] A week after Melbourne Summer Set 1, Zheng qualified for her first grand slam,[7] the 2022 Australian Open where she defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the first round to face number five seed Maria Sakkari in the second round.[8] She lost to Sakkari in the straight-sets.[9]
